What is causing my New Futaba 3004 servo to chatter. I have it hooked up to my rudder.

It chatters in the neutral position.

I have this radio http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEFJ4**&P=0

Can we assume the transmitter is turned on and not too close so as to "swamp" the receiver?

What happens if you plug the servo into a different port on the receiver? Or if you disconnect the linkage from the servo wheel/arm?

I plugged the rudder servo into another port and it worked ok. I plugged it back into the rudder on the receiver and it chattered.

I moved the "servo reversing switch" for the rudder on the front of my radio to the upper position. That made it stop chattering. When I moved the servo reverser back to the bottom, it chattered again.

I won't be happy if I fly my new goldberg tiger 60 with my new os 91 surpass 4-stroke on it and it crashes due to radio failure!

I am clueless at this point!

sorry for any inconvienience this is causing

Does another servo plugged into the rudder slot do the same thing?

Try moving the trim lever to the extreme ends of travel on TX. Attempting to get servo to a different "Null" point. If changing the trim "cures" it, there may be a bad feedback pot in the servo.

Only inconvenience is to you. Don't worry about me/us. All we have to do is turn off the computer.

I moved the rudder trim lever to the extreme ends of travel on TX and it didn't chatter. I also switched it back and forth on the reverser again and it seems to be ok now.

I'll keep checking it every so often before I fly it. I haven't tried another servo in the rudder port yet but I will.

I had the same problem last summer with an aileron servo on my astro hog. I simply replaced the servo and that took care of the problem. Luckily I was able to land before losing my plane.

Thanks for the help.

They're still searching for the "last" guy that gave me some bad information!

Something has a little dirt in it.

Ya don't think I use my own name or address do you?

I checked out my rudder servo again and found out it's still chattering. I replaced it with a new Futaba 3004 servo and everything is fine.

Why the servo chatters I have no idea. That's 2 new 3004 servo's that had to be replaced now due to chattering in the last 4 months.

I'd send them in but the shipping would cost as much as the servos are worth!

Oh well, it happens.

If you got them at a LHS you could just carry them in.
