there was once the rumor, that A123racing were testing smaller cells with FepO4-technic in an rc-car...

there is also the story of somebody testing smaller (18650 sized) FePO4 here in Germany
but with not that good result -> the datas are far not as good as on the A123-M1-cells

so:
will we see smaller cells in near future ?
there are so many applications, were 2300mAh are too few, but 4800mAh too heavy..

a 18650sized battery would be great, because you could parallel 3 of them

i would want to see a FePo4 with:
18650 size
1100-1300mAh
40g weight (or lighter ?)
30A continouse power
60A burst-power
chargable with 4C (or more)

so:will this come in near future ?
or is the focus for A123systems more on bigger cells (for car-market?)?

I have heard a couple hints from Brian that they are indeed working on smaller cells. That's all I know though.

is A123Racing part of A123System or
is A123Racing a different, own company ?

i mean: if there are new cells coming, are A123Racing testing them, or are the involved in development themselves ?

A123 racing is a division of A123 systems, but I don't know who develops what. It seems that A123 Racing is developing these cells specifically for RC. I heard they were being tested in 1/18 scale RC vehicles. Maybe Brian can shed some more light.

Actually, China Battery BAK seems to be making the batteries with the technology provided by A123..............

I hope they can make something that will fit in a Mini Quake.

how about 5AH for single LiFe battery? the large capacity LiFe battery will be applied to Electric Vehicle or others, column or rectangle, it is best to provide us your opinion, thanks in advance. my email: jasonwang3a@163.com

hi...
i don“t think that 5Ah would be a good thing for us..

2 Fepo4 have also around 5Ah (ok not realy) but in most modells 2 parllleled Fepo4 are easier to install than a very big 5Ah cell..

i would prefer 18650cells (like we use Sony Mangan-cells with great result)

we use the Sony Mangan as 3p
the cell has 1300mAh and can put out 20A continous and 26A peaks, 43g heavy

as 3p that are 3900mah, 60A continouse and 75A peak at a voltagedrop very similar to Kokam3200 Lipos...
the 3p Sony Mangan is 30% heavier than the Kokam, but has also 30% more capacity

the downsides of the Sony Mangan:
only chargable with around 1,5A (max. 2A)
lifetime at our use "only" around 300cycles (which is about double time compared to lipos)

with a Fepo4 18650 compared to Sony Mangan i would wish:
higher currents possible, fast chargable with 4C (up to 10C with reduced battery life)
10 years shelflife and the 1000cycles at 10C use
