Yup ... But Dennis, statisically there *is* a chance *something* will happen but on the rare chance it does happen, it very likely will happen so fast we won't "see" it. What we don't know is the level of chance (i.e. probability) or the something (i.e., the event symptom: momentary glitch but not an actual failsafe-triggering event, a failsafe hold event until the system resyncs, etc.). I'm thinking the likelihood of either is less of a chance than you or I winning the Power Ball Lotto. Probably 99.9% of those reading this thread won't GAS but still, I'm going to check it out.

Not completely true - I believe all of this "RC" stuff is falling out of a specific/finite number of RF channels agreed to within IEEE 802.11 which has several layers of implementation.

39 pilots flying at one time is bad period , if that was what you were trying to explain. This stuff is too expensive to worry about over load , I think I already read it will soon be 7.? Ghz.

Ok You are sitting at the field with your favorite Model. And 38 other guys are in the air. Are YOU going to fly becasue I will wait whether it is 2.4 or 72. (unless it is an airplane i don't care about, and then . . . I don't care!)

Besides here is a simple math quiz . . . how many people can fly at the same time on 72? (let's assume no 50)

at the three fields I belong to, the most that can fly at one time is 5 other than that the radio should be in the impound or off. If you have to test your plane, heli etc then clip your permit to the test pin. There are only 3 of those.

Ah yes, some of the practical realities coming to play here ...

I have seen, I am sure I have You made me goo look around for it... It is mentioned at the xtreme link home page. There is a table at the very bottom of that page.

In all the reading I've done on the 2.4 gig I havn't seen any numbers given to place limits on the radio. Much of what you here is "the sky is falling" and will be sorted out as more are used. The 2.4gig is so big that you could never fill it with RC. Dennis

I agree. The highest number of people I have seen flying simultaneously was 9 and it was a combination of planes, helis and foamies. I didn't dare to fly that time although my channel was free. But don't you think that clubs must start putting a limit as of the number of people flying simultaneously?

Here in the USA , they already limit the amount of people flying at the same time, if the field is AMA sanctioned.

Bull.

Over 5,000 people attend the Joe Nall event. There are a limited number flying and an equal number in the next up slot. So far so good. Spread spectrum transmitters were not impounded.

When most everyone has 2.4 Gig transmitters there will be a potential for hundreds of transmitters to be on at the same time. Between those flying and those in the pits adjusting and repairing damage or showing others new toys several hundred transmitters might be on.

Bill

I don't believe a problem will exist but a statistical analysis should include the conditions that either exist now or might exist in the near future.

If that day were to come, then impounding would have to be re-implemented at major events.
I doubt that it will a problem at the average flying field. Heck I just found out a couple of weeks ago that the only other radio (old Attack AM) at our field on "MY" channel has been retired, I am sooo verklempt

Just got done talking to Spektrum and this is what they said. Spektrum uses 80 channels. Therefore 40 pilots at a time can fly. If pilot 41 turns on his radio it will scan util it finds two open channels, if it does not the radio will not tramsmit.
Based on this information, if five in the air and 35 are on in the pits number 41 would not able to test his plane on the ground. Now add Futaba the hops thru the whole band every 2mils. How many planes in the air and radio's being used on the ground must you have to creat a problem.Dennis

I think, if we assume that Spektrum are holding all the 80 channels with 40 planes between flying and bench testing, Futaba would not be able to transmit when started. Is that true??

I think that would be absolutly true, but how often are there 40 transmitters on at the same time?
