Hi Western.

I'm thinking about a Funtana X100 just like yours for the CRRC Pro GF26i but what concerns me are the blind nuts on the Tana's firewall. Do the holes, by a strange miracle, match up with the standoffs of the CRRC engine? If not, what kind of mod did you have to do to make the engine fit?

Hi sixes,
Either one of these 26cc engines may work with your Extra but it will take a little engineering. You will probably need to pin the firewall and cut out quite a bit of the bottom of the cowl but it may work. With the new 26 it will be a unlimited monster and with the SP version it will be highly aerobatic/on the edge of full 3D. I am flying the new 26 on a Funtana X 100 using a 18x6 Mejzlik turning 8250 static -real fun plane. We have 6 of the SP versions left and 1 used prototype that I can sell for a reasonable price. Call us at 602-647-0165. Here are some pics of the Funtana as well. I use lipos and regs for RX and Ign. The Auw for this plane is 9.4lbs.

Hi Guys,
Just wondering how this engine stacks up against the spe 26cc and the peak 26cc.
I have been looking at some of the 25% combo offers from peakmodel, and these three engines are all available for the same price.
Has anyone any experiece who could give a comparison or opinion.
This would be my first venture into gas, so happy to take any advice.

Iain.

I just bought this cute little engine (CRRC Pro GF26I) and I'm planning on using it in my 76 inch Extra. It weighs in at 11.6 lbs (dry) and it's currently powered by a ST2300 with a Hawk 18X8 running on 5%. This setup is OK for sport flying but not even close for extreme aerobatics, let alone 3D. I've tached the ST @ 6600 rpm with the 18X8 and 7050 with a Hawk 18X6.
I hope this little gasser can provide at least an 800 rpm improvement over glow. I fly a lot and a move to gas will save me a great deal of money. I also hope that having chosen the 26 over the new 50 was not a mistake as I prefer a larger plane adequately powered but with a low wing loading. Any thoughts appreciated.

That's not a flute its a recorder.
The recorder is a woodwind musical instrument of the family known as fipple flutes or internal ductb flutes — whistle-like instruments which include the tin whistle and ocarina. The recorder is end-blown and the mouth of the instrument is constricted by a wooden plug, known as a block or fipple. It is distinguished from other members of the family by having holes for seven fingers (the lower one or two often doubled to facilitate the production of semitones) and one for the thumb of the uppermost hand. The bore of the recorder is occasionally cylindrical but is usually tapered slightly, being widest at the mouthpiece kill

The recorder was popular from medieval times but declined in the eighteenth century in favour of orchestral woodwind instruments, such as the flute, oboe, and clarinet, which have greater chromatic and dynamic range. During its heyday, the recorder was traditionally associated with birds, shepherds, miraculous events, funerals, marriages and amorous scenes. Images of recorders can be found in literature and artwork associated with all these. Purcell, Bach, Telemann and Vivaldi used the recorder to suggest shepherds and birds, and the pattern continued into the 20th century.[1]

The recorder was revived in the twentieth century, partly in the pursuit of historically informed performance of early music, but also because of its suitability as a simple instrument for teaching music and its appeal to amateur players. Today, it is often thought of as a child's instrument, but there are many excellent virtuosic players who can demonstrate the instrument's full potential as a solo instrument. The sound of the recorder is remarkably clear and sweet, partly because of the lack of upper harmonics and predominance of odd harmonics in the sound

Well, I finally got to get out my new CRRC PRO 26 on the new Ultra Stick today. Took it out to the field to start breaking it in and for the life of me could not get it to run. I think I musta flipped that thing 1000 times. At first it was a fuel draw problem, once I managed to get the carb wet for the first time it started drawing just fine. I could get it to "pop" after a bunch of flipping full choke full throttle ignition on, choke off high idle and every once in awhile it would "pop" again. Then it wouldnt pop again unless I re chocked it. I checked the needles, needles are per manual. Pulled the plug and checked for spark, seemed like a nice blue spark and could hear it clearly. I would put my thumb over the velocity stack and run it through compression about 10 times and getting nice and wet at the carb. Im running a 4.8 volt 2500 mah NiMh battery on ignition.

I tried several different starting techniques and nothing seemed to matter. I own several gas motors and have been flying gas for some time. But this engine is kickin my but! Any ideas out there?

Hey Fishman ... dumb question, you do have the throttle open a little bit (i.e. not closed because of the spring tension)?

Fishman,
Try useing a 12V glow starter to spin it over. See it that kicks it off.
When mine gets hard to start thats what I do and it's running in about 3-4 revelutions.
After that it starts by the second or third flip with the hand.
This only happens once in a while on my engine.

Was wondering whether this engine is good enough to pull a 70" wingspan edge540 or 71" wingspan extra 330s out of 3D maneuvers with authority.. Or would it just be sport flying for something this size.. Perhaps i should get the 45cc? but i'm worried about the CG with that engine.
Hope some of you guys can give some feedback
