We need a place to post photos of Club 40 planes and action photos. The "Hangout" is pretty active with words, now we will have a place for "Photos".

Post photos of your Club 40 planes, in one piece or more than one piece. [;)] Post photos of your racing friends.

Even though many Club 40 planes are pretty stock in color scheme, many people add some color to them. Let's see them!

(Hey Duda, commentary on the photos is cool [:)])

My first LA Racer. And the first one to bite the dust.

Jim Duda -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (2/25/2007 3:59 PM)

Commander Stegall - here are two from Central Texas.

DonStegall -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (3/12/2007 12:27 AM)

Believe it or not, this started out as a solid yellow Sky Raider Mach II.

Jimmy Ritch of Conover, NC effectively recovered it, and it looks really sharp.

Jimmy had noticed some fluttering of the "cheeks" on one of my Sky Raider Mach II. He came up with a nice, none speed enhancing modification. He test flew today and reports that there is no fluttering on his.

hollywood III -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (3/12/2007 3:37 PM)

THIS IS A GREAT ALL AROUND PLANE.
FLIES GREAT HAVE A BALL OF FUN & RACE YOU HEART OUT.
RICHARD BROWN
PS I ALSO HAVE A TRAINER READY TO FLY IF ANYONE NEEDS ONE WITH RAIDO NEW NEVER SEEN FUEL.

Druce -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (3/19/2007 5:55 PM)

I see your using a GMS muffler with the Thunder Tiger, good combo and cheap.
We have been using the muffler for years with our motors that we allow in our club racing. With our prop rule (apc 9x7 c4 sport prop) at 2200 feet above sea level we gain about a 1000 rpm.
Stock muffler we get about 14800 - 15000 rpm. Cheap upgrade, only $16.00. This is the only enhancement that we allow!
Keep on doing what your doing. It will be alot of hard work and you'll be doing alot yourself but it will be worth it in the long run. Hopefully one or two might want to go on to a higher form of racing.
Most will be happy to stay at this level.
Word of advise if I may..

Keep it entry level, and be strict on the rules and run unexpencive motors. Make a series out of it, 3 rounds 1 day a week for eight weeks.

Racers being what they are will always push the rules and then the planes will become to fast for the novice and they will start crashing and breaking equipment and that will be the end of your racing.
Don't allow it to be ****ized

Good luck..

Thanks.

These photos were not of planes in "race trim". Sharp eyes though. I had a Tower muffler on my LA Racer 40 for break-in purposes. Jimmy also had one his plane that he was going to race in the Club 40 "Outlaw" class, but he broke the landing gear out before the race.

DonStegall -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (3/20/2007 3:46 PM)

I finally got this solid yellow Sky Raider in the air this past weekend. The wind was pretty gusty and I had some wild excursions with aileron input. But going to low rates gave minimal control.

Later in the day the wind calmed down. I checked the radio setup because I'm not used to that transmitter (Futaba 6XAS). I had set low rates for aileron and elevator at 40%. Oops. I usually use 60%-75%. Then I checked expo and found that I had no expo on aileron on either high or low rates. I fixed the setup and flew it. All was well and I was comfortable bringing it down on the course.

I have a variety of transmitters for the pylon demos. It gets to be a challenge keeping up with the different programming methods. The plus side is that I'm familiar with a lot of different transmitters and can offer assistance for both Futaba and JR guys.

The pink foam stand is something I whipped up when I started putting Club 40 planes together. Very inexpensive and very convenient for working on Sky Raider Mach II and LA Racer 40 planes.

DonStegall -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (3/25/2007 12:47 AM)

Jim Duda sent me these photos of his latest Sky Raider Mach II.

It's HOT.

daven -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (3/25/2007 2:02 AM)

Thats a nice looking Plane Jim, good job!

Jim Duda -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (3/25/2007 2:47 AM)

Big Dave - what about 1 in. Green/White checkerboard where the white center section of the wing is, white wings, with Metallic Green tips...and a big Rolling Rock Logo on the wings...(wink)

C'mon in and join us!

ps Stake some poles 400 feet apart and see how close to 1:30 you can get from an idle, standing start - NO PUSH! TT Pro 40

daven -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (3/25/2007 2:36 PM)

I think that would look great, let me get settled here first :)

Jim Duda -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (4/13/2007 2:15 PM)

Here's the latest from the Austin Skunk Works...someone in High Authority suggested the name of ORANGE CRUSHER. (wink)

daven -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (4/13/2007 2:40 PM)

Looks great Jim, is that yours, or Jason's? Looks like his colors.

Also, you guys going to Florida next weekend?

Jim Duda -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (4/13/2007 2:49 PM)

"Looks like his colors."

Dang! We can't sneak anything by you! It's his and he picked the colors.

I told him NOT to go to Florida! Between Norman, Freeman Jr., and Bridge, he'd end up in jail...and I wouldn't post bail for him!!!

Kick some butt down there!...during the races and afterwards...(wink)

DonStegall -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (4/13/2007 7:27 PM)

Jim,

Great looking plane. That photo is now my Windows background at work. [:D]

It's great to see people getting creative and having fun with these "Racers".

Hope the weather is good in Texas this weekend. Looking forward to seeing some photos from the race.

DonStegall -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (4/16/2007 5:07 PM)

From the San Antonio Season Opener.

DonStegall -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (4/17/2007 11:57 AM)

Here is a green and red LA Racer 40. Stock color scheme, but I haven't seen many people get the green scheme.

My neighbor Joe Westerfield will be flying this one, hopefully at the race this weekend.

DonStegall -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (10/12/2007 3:54 PM)

This is a Sky Raider Mach II Model A178R in the Red trim scheme.

I (somewhat) affectionately call these the clown planes. In reality the red trim scheme is pretty easy to see in the sky and the pink bottom is very easy to see.

This one has a SuperTigre GS-40 on it as I am testing the low buck $50 engine for use in the Club 40 Novice class.

vicman -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (10/12/2007 5:04 PM)

Nothing too fancy here. I have been out of town pretty much since I got the model to build.
See you guys tomorrow.

Just got into this. At the SCOBEE races a couple weeks ago, it looks like I should stay far away from it but someone has to be last. However been working on the pattern a bit. When one is on the bottom, only one way to go! [:)]

Note that one pilot has a "computer" cockpit. "Playmate.com" has "Ignition", "Fire Warning" and "Cooldown".

The receiver in the cockpit is to allow quick freq. changes, if needed, using JR synthesized equipment.

I'm updating the RCPRO Club 40 Racing - Gallery with links to the various places Club 40 photos are being posted.

Please post links to galleries I should add. And remember, it is now very easy to find the portal for Club 40 at www.Club40Racing.com or just Club40Racing.com.

heliothiszea -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (11/2/2007 1:23 AM)

Just thought I would show off my new club-40 Sky Raider . . . Hope it flies better than it looks . . . if you look close you'll see I've got a 13X10 prop on the front . . . is this legal? - Seth

vicman -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (11/2/2007 3:14 AM)

Lemme guess...you got red for a trim color[:D]

You ready to fly that thing on Saturday?

heliothiszea -> RE: Club 40 Photo Gallery (11/2/2007 1:27 PM)

Yep . . . kinda sexy ain't it! Well, really, kinda plain . . . don't know what else to add. I can't seem to come up with cool graphics like you Vicman. We'll see how it looks in the air this weekend - Seth
