My monster GT has the excess antenna wire wrapped and zip tied inside the receiver compartment. I pulled the wire full length through the antenna tube but its almost 14 inches longer than the tube. I coiled the remaining on the outside of the tube and shrink wrapped the end. Is this ok to do?

Yes, that's better than being coiled inside radio box. You may noticed improved range.
