STS are great engines but the LRP 3 spec would beat that that D28M, the STS 30vs lrp 3 spec is another story, they only cost about $15 more than the D28 and they are extremely powerful. The STS 30 and lrp 3 spec are pretty similar in performance, the STS 30 probly more powerful but harder to break in ect.

Go with the STS 30 if you have broken in 2+ engines before and the LRP 3 spec if you are fairly new because its easier to set up.

pfft, how wrong u are Lachy, sorry mate, but it would be VERY VERY close comp between the STS and LRP, i would just go the STS 28, will be the same performance wise with th LRP and cheaper...

D28M all the way!!!! I have one and love it! It is such a powerhouse even in such a heavy truck as a Savage that I have to shoot the moon as far as gear ratios. I use a 47T/20T spur/CB gear combo on a Savage (which is very high for a Savage) and the D28M still makes it wheelie at full trigger pull.

well I have all the mills in question... and an engine modder the Spec 3 is a nicer mill then the STS 28.... It does have more advanced sleeveporting, and more ports.... IMHO the Spec 3 is somewhere between a STS 28 and STS 30.... Anyways the Spec 3 and the STS 28 are both fantastic mills IMO... I do though [refer the STS 30 over either of those... the 30 makes more power and is also better on fuel.

I know the STS D28M has ballz, never run the LRP Spec 3 but I've read enough to know they're killer mills also.... I'd say you can't go wrong with either.... also, you can get a Dadders modded STS 28 for about the same price as a Spec 3 @ $170 from their ebay store..... it's definitely a tough call!

here's a short vid of the STS in my 12lb 10.7oz MGT, just after break-in, running in loose gravel with stock MGT wheels..(nothing special, just a few short passes out front) - STS

I have to agree with supertib as far as the STS 30. I have one in my Revo great engine!
Starts within seconds, is easy to tune, holds its needle settings and has insane power. This
engine is faster than the LRP28 Spec3 and the STS 28. Best part, They are avaible for around
$135.00 for the non pull start model.

If you are not smelling nitro fumes and listening to the sweet song ypur not LIVING !!

The D30M...I am so craving one, even more than chocolate swirled cheesecake! I have made up in my mind to save up about $200 to buy a D30M and an STS exhaust system for it.

I guess it's all cool to see it run on vids and stuff, but I have yet to see one run in person. For the ouput it produces, I bet it will smoke just about all the other engines I have (that is not saying much since I only have a handful of K4.6s and a D28M).
What I am saying is that I want to be able to have the power for myself, merely listening to stories about it is not cutting it for me anymore...

Enough of my rambling, I'm gonna check my cash and see if I could get one now and hit the web for D30M and STS pipe deals. Thanks so much guys for all the info you have posted about teh D30M.

Racernine has the pipe for $42, here.. I haven't looked around for better prices but that seems pretty darn good in comparison to other high dollar tuned pipes..

I'm sure you could use it, it's probably tuned for torque though, which the .28 and .30 already have plenty of.. It'll probably hurt top end a bit, that's just a guess though... generally, .21's are better suited with torque pipes because they lack in the low end... and .28+ need high end high end pipes, they usually have plenty of torque but lack on the high side....
