I just e-mailed Thunder Tech racing so I can pre-order me one too!
Apparently Id rather not do it online, but maybe over the phone instead.
Their website is not secure like tower's website....

So NOONE has any idea if they can compete head to head against RC-10T's or Losi trucks, actual weight comparison of them, or scale sizes for open class ?

Has anyone ever even ran this truck yet ?

Having now seen the first version of the truck and what they plan to now release, I can't personaly justify spending the money on it.

At $ 250.00 I would consider it.

damn. Maybe I can still get one of the first versions somewhere.

I couldnt agree more....Delay after delay, no reasonable explanation...I want one, but like the looks of the test version better. The $$ is fair for a non mass produced item. The natives are getting restless thundertech...get with it!!!

I Want the earlier version as well...Anyone out have a one to sell?????

Yes, I ran it - SS4300 Brushless Setup, stock gearing, Pavement/Dirt Running.

NO, It will not compete with the XXX-T or the RC-10... both will blow the doors (or lack thereof) off of this Corr Truck. If the the truck is to be raced, it'd either be in a class of it's own, or one with the other Tamiya F150 Pre-Runners, Tamiya S10/Toyota Prerunners.
--In that case, you might actually kick some butt... but even then, 2wd vs 4wd.

Mine was actually 'TEX's to begin with, I ran it a few times and got rid of it. The version I ran was beautiful. I took a sweet shot and made some wallpaper out of it somewhere way back there.

Here it is again:

I've decided not to get it, because there is a long waiting list. Not because what Hunter said, I just dont feel like waiting for it.
In the long run it's proabably worth it, but a large sum of people are on a waiting list.
Even though it says Jan 2008, does not mean you'll get one then.
Id rather have a good basher like the E-Savage, I'm saving up for it instead.

Thats my issue too....not what hunter said. I know its in a class of its own and wont compete with true race bred trucks. This has that scale appeal and blows away the Tamiya trucks as kewl as they are! Whos to say that they wont push it back again in jan. and continue stringing us all along! I want one of these soo fricken bad... since day one, but im out!

I'm willing to wait, very impatiently but I'm willing. Heck I've waited this long (9 months) whats another couple of months, lol. It'll be worth it in the long run. It is the only scale pre-runner on the market right now, even if they arent available yet. TTR is the only company that dove in head first with this project. Plus Darren is cool, he answers any and all questions when you call.

Does anyone think they will be making any hop-up parts for it? Besides the beadlocks. It would be nice to see the pre production alloy links as a hop up. If not I'll just make them.

Dave, good luck trying to get a pre-production model. I have been trying for ages, missed my opportunity by 2 days a few months ago and havent seen one since.

Hello:
I saw this truck at I-Hobby Expo the last two years as I have been following it too. I like the new version better. I talked to one of the guys that is designing it. Thunder Tech is a very small business, I believe it is run out of a small garage or basement. Be patient.
This truck is designed for realistic scale racing. The chassis has some torque twist when you get on the throttle because of the shaft drive and solid axle. The body is designed to be painted on the outside so you can trade paint while racing ( realistic). The body is also very thin it will get busted up over time, but the cool thing is you can duct tape or glue it back together for the next heat race. He said bodies would be cheaper than the current lexan 1/10 bodies so you can bash them and not spend alot of money.

I emailed this thread link to him and told him you guys need a video and some explanation of his vision for this truck. I have not received a return e-mail yet or has he posted here.

In the future they want to make their own rear axle, the aluminum trailing links would be an option. This is to keep the kit cost lower.

If you look at the current stadium trucks the wheel base and overall width are nearly the same, sort of like driving a square and not very scale like. This truck is different, it is narrow and is more scale like and will roll over from time to time.

At the Hobby Expo they raced 4 or 5 of them. The jumps were shorter than typical 1/10 scale.

I will try and upload the pictures and video later tomorrow

I posted the video on u tube, here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrvcWY5WloE

I would still like to get some pictures of the truck on here.

I also forgot to mention he said that the truck kit is going to have some different front grill options. They will be similar to a Ford or maybe a Chevy or Toyota. Which ever Thunder tech decides on they will not be exact copies because license agreements are to expensive. I scaned a brochure with the Chevy grill and it looks nice.

Although annoyed about the delivery dates being pushed back again (I think its the 6th time), after seeing that video I'm excited. Its about time to see some video of them. They seem to handle quite well. I would like to see some video of them in the dirt, where they belong.

You can see plenty of snap shots of the truck on there site www.thundertechracing.com

Where all the trucks in the vid the updated models?

Thanks for the info rhubler, its much appreciated.

The pictures I have are of the latest prototype that was at the show. It is a black bodied truck with the molded plastic parts in black.

The truck pictures on the Thunder Tech web site still have the white plastic molded parts.

The video is a mix of old and the new prototypes
