Hey GW,
I can't vouch for these but there is a set of free ones for download. Here they are DUS I'm bulding from an old set of Jensen plans. From looking at these they seem pretty accurate. I've built a flat wing (no dihedral) like Bob.

Nothing to report guys. Still waiting for my dope and covering to come in. Getting a bit impatient I ordered it 2 weeks ago now.

I did get my main spars sanded. I made a little sanding jig out of a short piece of the wasted spar. I used 320 and she sanded down very nice. I'll need to do a little touch up here and there on a few ribs but she came out nice and with very little effort. I was very happy about that. I was not looking forward to tackling the mess!

Well, I was hoping to have the bird covered and ready for paint by the end of the 3 day weekend. But my local hobby shop still has not received my covering. I've waited 3 weeks and nothing. I am going to order the stuff myself. I try real hard to support the local guys but this makes it hard.

Anyone have any recommendations on paint?

Sean:

I've never had any problems getting stuff from Tower Hobbies. Their prices are lower, and if you join their super saver club, you can get free shipping on orders over 50 bucks.

Hey Bob, The shipping is the killer with Tower. But I think I'll start ordering from them. I just need to build my orders bigger. I'll look into the super save club.

Here are some pictures of my exits. As you can see I still have a little more glue to sand down off the vertical fin. That tail end section is a bugger to get looking good too. I'll have to work it a little more there too. This digital camera is sort of good. I can see a lot of imperfections now that I don't see with my eye! Got some more work to do.

The last picture is the part of the armament system. I haven't built the guns yet.

Redwolf I for one feel your pain waiting for the LHS to order things for you. Last time I ordered
from mine they sold my stuff to someone else the same day it came through the door. I raised
hell about it but my final words were "You want my business, that isn't a good way to keep it."
They said they would reorder but I called my buddy up in Missouri that has a little country shop,
I buy a lot from him for my control line planes and he had it at my door 2 days later for 5 bucks
shipping (would have cost me that in local sales tax anyway). Tower Hobbies is where I get a lot
of my items, as I plan ahead on all of my projects, and Joe & Samantha in Missouri are always my
first call before I go that route. I myself am a former hobby shop owner, might try it again in a couple
more years, this time round will be 100% R/C though.

BTW I am back at cutting pieces on my "Giant Stick", hopefully be posting more pics soon.

Bill D.

I have good luck with Tower, Shipping usally takes 4 or 5 days, I once waited 9 But 5 of it was UPS's fault. I got lucky on the super saver club I got it for 14.99. Always think ahead on what you might need and don't order anything that isn't "Parts Express" until you can combine it to over 150 bucks before any discount ,then shipping is free. I can usually find a 15 or 20 dollar discount offer somewhere. If You order everything with a green check mark together the shipping is only 3.99. Great Saleswomen...use the phone when you order..

Thanks for the tips guys. I've always bought from Tower before. I remember them as more than very reliable. I only wanted to try and help the local shop. I was really disappointed when after I waited forever their response to my suggestion that I would order it myself was ah ok, you'll probably be better off that way. No mention of being sorry or anything. Guess I'll go to Tower first from here out.

The shipping is a killer. As you suggest I'll have to plan better and save the orders up until they hit $150. There goes my undercover ops!!!!!! The wife wasn't figuring out how much I was spending! $10 here $5 there was easy to hide!!!! The entire hobby may be at jeapordy now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to order this one from Sig. Tower didn't have the Nitrate dope I needed. I hope it shows soon. The stick is all ready to go. I guess I could do some radio work inside while I waite. But I'd rather not.

Dope? I remember that stuff. I just got back into flying and was gonna go that way. but decided to try out the iron ons. I bought a Tower iron and heat gun for about 20 buck and a couple of rolls of Towercoat for 5.99 apiece and realised I could do it alot cheaper with the Iron on.(and easier). I don't know if you tried em but I used to build rubber powered and I woulden't go back...

If you have tried or use it just disregard this.

Sorry bout this message I shoulda read more

Just like Christmas here today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My Sig order arrived. Got my Dope and Koverall. My new drill press arrived from Grizzly too!!!! So much excitement. Might have to take a day off tomorrow!!!

Hey Wingnut. I just never ever liked the iron ons. Monokote etc. It's just a personal preference. I actually enjoy painting as much as anything. The Koverall is really cool sounding. This is my first experience with it. You apply it with dope then shrink it with the iron like monokote etc. Then two coats of dope and your off to the races. Not near the work that Silk was. We'll see how it goes. I've got nothing against the iron ons. I just never was very good with them and like I said I like painting.

Now I'll get two coates of straight nitrate dope on the entire wing and fuselage and I'll be ready to cover. Assuming the wing will be easiest so I'll start there. Hoping for pictures to share by next monday. Stay tuned.........going to get moving now!

Bill, thanks for the info on the hobby shop. I've gotem bookmarked and will give them a call next time.

Sean did you get the "Stix-it" with the "Coverall"? It makes the job of applying the Coverall so much easier than just doping it on.
Good luck on the covering job, if you didn't get the Stix-it be real carefull with the heat to shrink the Coverall otherwise it will pul it off the areas that you had sealed down.
