Does anyone using the UBEC's for both receiver and ignition batteries? I know weight is not major benefit for this but it seems to have a more constant voltage than NiMH.
My largest concern is on the noise. As it's driven by a switching circuit, I worry that it'll even generate more noise and glitches when using it with the ignition.

Thanks
Henry

you lost me....

what are you trying to do?

the UBEC provides power to the servos in an electric model... in a nitro or gas you have the RX battery......
you could use a regulator, but it isn't needed with Ni batteries....

am I missing something?

I want to replace the normal 4.8V Ni with "2S LiPo+UBEC to 5V" as RX and ignition batteries.

Sorry to mislead you or maybe I shouldn't use the term UBEC, what I mean is just a regulator you mentioned. Here's the one I found in hobby lobby, http://www.hobby-lobby.com/ubec.htm

ywhenry,

The reason you don't find many using it here is that most flying gas powered planes are into giant scale and therefore multiple servos per control surface. These servos have the amperage draw that could easily exceed what the UBEC can deliver. Yes, it says 8-10 servos but this is probably for micro-servos suitable for electric planes. I have used the UBEC and they do work very well with little concern of RF noise. I would not use one in a GS plane though where 8-10 amps is possible draw.

Thanks Plasticman,
If RF noise is not serve in this setting, it may suit what I need coz I'm running a 26cc engine with 4 JR 8411 and a JR 811 servos. I guess 3-5amp draw is enough for them.

Thanks
Henry
