I need some advice. I bought a Nitro Models 80" Zero. It is a very fine arf. The recomended engine is a 50cc. I have a fugi 54 which I had planned on using. I noticed there was another 80" zero that used a 1.6. I was wonering wether to use the 1.6 or the 54cc. I like to fly on the wing and not the engine if you know what I mean. I was going to use the 54 because I had it. I also have a 1.6

It flies just fine with a G-38. Perfect power to weight ratio. Cheap too.

I have a 80" 18.5 pound Platt Zero. At sea level it flys with more than scale speed using the OS160 and 17x10 prop at 8.4k. I usually fly at half throttle or a bit more and I have setup the throttle to be linear, half throttle = about 5k rpm. Since you are not into sound barrier breakinig or 3D I think the G-38 is very close in power and should do very well and I like the 10" pitch over 8" pitch. Jeff Foley of TopGun fame has flown the same Zero kit with a OS108 and 16x6 prop years ago. Personally I don't mind a little extra power but really don't like to over power my planes. I had the 160 needing a home so I used it.

It'd be hard for me not to recommend an engine from Scott @ Brillelli. I have the 46 (older version) and love it!

I'm ordering the CMP 50cc Zero this week. Scott from Brillelli Engines is fitting it with the new 36cc and hopefully making some custom exhaust stacks for it.
Acerpal ,,,, I asked this in Paladins thread on the big Zero,,, but since you've got your's un-cowled.......... What is the diameter of the front fuse block ? Even if you take a string , go around the front end and then measure it I'd be grateful.

Well, my YA Zero flyes at 3/4 power on a Moki 2.1 (full fuel, weighted bomb, electric sliding canope, on-board glow system = 22lbs), my second choice was a brison 2.4, and my third was a G-38. It is your decision, I don't think you'll have any problems

Paladin got me the specs. Thank you anyway though acerpal.

YEah,, I've seen those Moki's pulling a warbird or two. They really get 'em going . But I like the sound of a 4 stroke on a warbird better , although the mess on my paint jobs and fuel costs of glow keep me building with mainly gas engines on anything larger than a 60 sized plane.

I have a ZDZ 40 on mine and it's perfect in my opinion.
I did race a guy with a g38 at a warbird meet and mine was a bit faster..
I thought it would be a lot more...
but it runs great and flys fast

Hi,

I am trying to decide between the 71" and the 83" CMP Zero. a 26cc SPE engine and 45cc Peak engine are both thee same price on ebay, so other than the kit being a couple hundred more, the cost will be somewhat close. Do you guys think the 83" is worth going for the bigger version based on the quality you have seen of their kits?

Thanks!
