O.K., I tested the Patrick fix today. It was a definite improvement. My 115 used to sag horribly in Knife edge and when inverted. It doesn't do that any more. The engine still does not run good though. I'd say the Patrick fix has turned my horrible running 115 into just a bad running 115. It improved it, but not enough. The engine still surges and hesitates at low and mid rpm's. The engine still seems like it might die. I made several adjustments to the needles today. I know my low end was as lean as it could go because I had it a little too lean and it almost quit on take off again (that's what damaged my rudder before) once. I richened it a little from that point and it didn't hesitate on take off any more after that. I had the high end anywhere from a little rich to a little lean and everywhere in between. Nothing worked. I was making very small (blade width) adjustments. There is just no way I can trust this engine. I didn't have any dead sticks today, but it always seemed like it might die. I think that I have 2 things working against me: 1. I am using the stock exhaust 2. I fly at high altitude I just don't think there is anything I can do to overcome these obstacles. Flying at high altitude makes a rich mid range even richer. I do not like the complexity and the added weight of cans or pipes. If someone is flying at a lower altitude with cans or pipes and your having some rich mid range problems, I think the Patrick fix could solve your problems. If the other guy testing the Patrick fix would report his findings, we might hear just this. For me though, I am through messing with the BME 115. I've been messing with it all year. Nothing works. It will go up for sale and I will put a different engine on the plane. Jim
