Yes, the overall depth is shorter. The reed block has been shortened and the carb has been changed. Not "according to", but has been changed and "is". If someone wants to rename it Gen II, what the heck.

I've been lucky and got to fly a few times with Altavillian. He had a 115 in the worst condition of any engine I have ever seen of any type that was able to stay running. The reason? Two failed ignitions, one of the old carbs that would not work the way it was supposed to, and slipped timing. As bad as it was, and that was very bad indeed, it still flew a 35% Katana very well. I don't think he ever went above 1/2 throttle, even at t/o. The last time I flew with him the engine was on it's way back from BME. Sounds like he's a pretty happy person now.

RTK and Altavillian;

I've been presented with the opportunity to hand fly something unique and really interesting so the return home time has to remain a little "flexible". With any luck I'll be able to still get a little sport flying in here.

Can someone post RPM with one of 2 props please? I am curious to see how does that engine spin 28'' props.

Direct quote from Keith at BME: "BME will not be using the C&H ignitions". They just had a bad run of the Falkon units, and are being/have been replaced under warranty.

It looks lke he's made up his mind to stay with what he had. At least that's out of the way.

Not where I work!

You can keep the Falkons. The history is too long and still growing.

Some one chime in her if you have more info and you think I am wrong on this point.
It is very important and I'm talking serious engine damage, but be certain you are not opening your throttle butterfly more than about 3/4 to 7/8 of vertical or all the way I do not think these carbs genII or old style draw enough fuel at wot. I cut my opening back to about 3/4 of full open and do not see a top end decrease in rpm but I am not melting the teflon couplers now , yet, but I probably will cause I love to rip that prop.

The Falkon makes a good back up ignition if your CH needs to visit Terry.

is this from looking at the thing on the side of the motor and waiting for it to make contact with the carb to show it's all the way open?

The old style carb did not have the stops. It could adjust past verticle so you have to mark the outside of the carb to know where to set your servo travel . Especialy if you use the AI. snorkel because you can't see inside the carb. On my install of the new genII carb I removed the stop plates and installed a steering arm on that side so I could use my old servo set up. I marked where wot was and backed in down from there and have a mark to refer to for later adjustments.

It should spin a Mejz28x10 between 6500-6900 warmed up and backed off peak. On a Menz-s 27x10 you should see similar #'s

I can see mine as it still have the stop on there to keep me from over roating. I usually use the method of a steering arm on some ZDZ and chokes when i am running them on servos...

Why is a simple carb change being made so difficult? Has nobody ever changed a carb before? Sorry folks, but all the alarm over a super simple change in reed block depth and a carb change has me wondering is anyone atually has any mechanical ability at all. Thank goodness for self stick postage stamps.

I just went back and read through the progresion of all the posts and it's scary.
