The folks who own thw BME 115, could we get some latest field reports, videos and comparisons. Any feedback would be appreciated.

RTK has one of the first 115's that hit the streets. I was given the opportunity to fly it in his Comp Arf 330. Extremely strong, good bottom and middle, with a fine transition. It's the first engine I've ever seen where a 2.6 meter (35%) plane would transition from maximum level speed into an immediate vertical line and never slow down. Scared me some actually because I wasn't sure the wings would stay on in the pull from horizontal to vertical. Absolutely no shortage of power on stock mufflers.

I don't have mine mounted on anything yet. If the weather goes to good then we'll be flying RTK's again this weekend.

Flyinrazrback has done quite a bit of flying with his and seems to be very happy with it. He's posted quite a bit of info regarding rpm counts and props used and so far it's knocked the rest of the 100cc class engines in the dirt.

Silversurfer, thanks for the responce. That sounds pretty good. I am in the process of putting together my comp-arf 2.6 yak and would love to go with the BME 115. I had already purchased a DA-100 but the BME 115 sounds real good---Less Weight and seems like more power. I wonder who makes some good header and pipes for this beast? If you could post some video of RTK's 2.6 in action, that would be very cool!

Silversurfer has a comp-arf Yak and a 115 sitting at home waiting to be assembled. I am going to have to start pushing him to get it done.
I don't have any video of the 115 in action yet. But as SS had mentioned, when it was on my comp-arf extra it would really hall a$$. It would go vertical just as fast as horizontal. For some reason I kept trying to turn that extra into a race plane, I just love too hear that prop rip. I currently have it in a WH Sukhoi, but I don't think I will be doing any race circuit type of flying.
The 115 runs just as smooth as any other well tuned engine but has the weight and power advantage. There are a few videos of it in action in a WH Sukhoi on the DOD web site. Kyle "the alien" really knows how to fly.
As for pipes or cans give Keith a call he has run some, so that would be where I would start. Flyinrazrback was going to try some E composite pipes, cool pipes that weight nothing, on his but I do not know if he has yet or not.

Thanks SS and RTK, can't wait to get this baby on my yak. I did speak with Keith and he said the next batch of the 115's should be here in mid March, got my name on the list. The ES composite pipes are way cool, I will have to sell my my MTW cans and flex headers and also my DA-100. SS, I think you are right, I will be a happy camper with this puppy in the nose of my Yak [:D].

Pontiac, the 115 on the yak with ES pipes will be phenomonal. When you order the ES pipes ask for him to set the baffle at 18.5" in the pipe so you can run a 12" header. Typically he sets the baffle at 16.5" and you have to run a 14" long header, but those can be hard to find so setting the internal baffle at 18.5 allows the same tuning but a 12" header. Should be an awesome setup. I loved my 115. I had the same 2.6 yak with a 3W 106CS and KS tuned pipes and it was just nasty sick on power, the lighter 115 setup with pipes will have to be seen.

Pat will be running stock exhaust from BME. We flew my 115 in a 25lb WH Sukhoi today on stock exhaust, there was no shortage of power. Rcblimpro (Shaun) ran the plane thru bits and pieces of the unlimited IMAC sequence. I believe he commented that it had a lot of power. If you put that Yak on ES pipes it would have un-real power.

Don't need no stinkin' pipes. RTK scared shat out of me today when he gassed on his when I was holding it. I didn't think I had a good enough grip on it and had to yell at him to back it down. Stupid, stupid, I repeat, stupid!! thrust and power. Flew that 35% Sukhoi all day and only once was max throttle used, and only briefly. In level flight I didn't think that plane would go that fast, and I was the one that did the prototype report! There has to be something wrong with 10 foot take off rolls...

25 pound plane and unlimited vertical? Naw, more like ballistic with stock pipes.

I'll be starting on that Yak sometime this week between flying my new Edge, RTK's Sukhoi, and a little convalescing.

I had a chance to hold one of these 115s yesterday and was very impressed. The weight is noticably light. Can't say I've gotten to fly one but I won't pass up the chance. It weights 1.6lbs less that a DA100? Seems very light.

Have any of you out there flown both the BME 110 and 115? I was told that the 110 is kind of a "shaker", since it's so light for it's displacement. I was also told that the 115 is a little smoother for some unknown reason. Any comments about this?

I'm looking pretty hard at the 115 for a project I'm building, where I want to turn a 28" prop and still have the engine fit inside the cowl and in front of the firewall. The BME 115 twin is the best fit I can find, and although powerwise, it will be insane overkill for my project, I'm a firm believer in using the throttle stick with moderation, so hopefully it will work.

I have had both on the same plane. When tuned properly neither shake any worse than the DA's or 3W's that were in identical planes at the field.

AmpAce, the BME 115 is getting some good feedback from the pilots, ........so far so good. The engine is 1.6 pounds lighter than the DA-100 and from what the folks who own it are saying, the power is at least equal to if not more than the DA-100. The DA-100 is a great engine within itself.
