Help, I'm looking for suggestions on what to use for a muffler on my Ziroli Stuka. I am running a Zenoah G-62 on it and I want to keep as much of the muffler in the cowl as possible.

I want to keep it to a minimum the amount of cowl I will have to cut out for clearances.

What are you guys out there using? Got some pics you can post to show how it fits?

Thanks for the help.

they have a stuka section, and if im not mistakin, all the stukas there are ziroli. Mufflers look to be jtec, on most. they do hang out. hope this helps ya.

bignasdy,

Thanks for the reply.

I have been to Pauls site and checked out the stukas there. It confirms the problem I am having with mine. I got the slimline pitts muffler installed on mine and I can't seem to get the lower cowl to reattach to the upper cowl. The one header bolt and the muffler can end are forcing the cowl away from upper cowl by about a 1/4" or so. It is possible that the fiberglass cowl I got with the plane when I bought it is so old that the glass has deformed some how, which it has a little because the front corner of the lower cowl dowsn't fit flush with the upper one.

Or the mount for the engine wasn't set right on the engine box. The way things look now is that the engine would have to shift off the centerline of the fuse about a 1/2" to make the clearance.
I'll be studying the problem some more I was hoping to find out if there were other muffler options other than what I got now or the jtec unit.

IMHO, having built and flown 4 Stuka's and having seen many at meets , the muffler used is a Slimline Pitts Style.' on the G-62. I am presently building another right now and I intend to use a G-62 and a Slimline Pitts. I have found that all I have to fit is the 2 bolts that hold the muffler on. I make 2 holes big enough to fit over the 2 bolt heads and they fit fine. I use several degrees of right thrust which might move the engine sufficent to clear the cowl. Keep trying they have fit on mine. Good luck John N
