Is anyone using a mrc pro 969 charger to charge there li-po batts?I just picked one up for $50 and now have found a forum on wattflyers saying that this charger is no good for li-po packs and to have it upgraded to the 977 spec's.Has anyone ever heard of this upgrade or had problems charging there li-po's with this charger with a balancer? thanks for your help

update: if you have this charger and you want to charge li-po battery's you can send it back to mrc along with $42 and they will send you a new 977

vwdriver01 -

I have the MRC 969 Pro series charger and it was purchased as a gift for me mainly for charging nimh and lipos. I read that it would peak the lipo's which would make them blow and I never tried it.
I then found out on rcuniverse that they had a recall and you could send it back for a free "upgrade" to fix the Lipo problem.
They do not "bring it up to 977 specs". The only thing they did was upgrade the program to read lipos correctly and not peak charge them. It also changes the layout of how to punch in figures.
The 977 has a whole new program.
I have tried it since then and it seemed to work on my 3 cell E-Flight battery. But have since purchased a Thunder Power TP-425.
The fact that the MRC unit had so much bad publicity and false advertising toward the Lipos really made me hesitant to utilize it as my main charger. Do not attempt to charge lipos without the Program fix!

Hope this answers part of your question.

Jeff
