I'm kinda new to this mini servo thing I have my big buggys and the RTR kyosho 09 half 8 but that was ready to go with servos but I'm now starting a Ofna 1/16 scale CRT .5 build and was wondering where and what servos to use. I would like something that won't rape my pocket book and make me feel cheap in the morning LOL just some decent servos. What speeds and what torqe ratings are normaly suggested for these little guys ???

I'm thinking of doing the pro kit then get either a JLR .12 Red dot they run about $175.00 or maybe a OS .18 but what are some of the best motor choices? I would rather build my own buggy starting with the pro kit I have heard too many wierd stories from Ofna one guy says the motor is a 3 port .12 the next says it is a 7 port .12 I here from my LHS that you can get either then next I here they only sent out a certain amount of the first cars with the 3 port which is suppossed to be a better motor than the 7 port but I want to avoid all that hoopla and choose my own power plant any suggestions on motors and where to get good prices on them.

And how does that OS .18 fit in is it a drop in or a hack in? and do you really need that much power in that small of a truck?

By the way I think this CRT .5 is one of the best little nitros to come along I kick my self in the butt for buying the Kyosho .09 ANYBODY WANT TO BUY A KYOSHO NITRO 09 RTR CHEAP?????

Any help would be great.

PS. I will be using my Spectrum DX2 TX & RX

Go to www.nitrohouse.com and search for crt.5 as they have the manual in PDF format. The manual states what servo's can be used and then it's up to you to decide what you want to get.

Any .12 to .18 motor with a slide carb, rear exhaust and sg shaft will work. A friend of mine put an OS .18TZ in his and it fit straight in. However, the stock gearing restricts the top end a fair bit so my suggestion would be to do some experimenting. I have an OS Speed .12TZ in mine and it rips. Any hot .12 will be more than enough for this little truggy, I would recommend the OS .12TZ or a Novarossi engine if you can afford one.

Hope this helps mate.

Getting mine this week. Do Spektrum Rx fit in it? Getting the one w/ Picco motor. Do I need anything else for the motor to install? How do I adjust endpoints on the servos?

EPA's need to be done via your radio if it has this feature. Basically what you are doing is making sure the servo is not trying to go further than the car will let it. To do left steering EPA you turn the wheels full left then wind back your EPA from 100%. Keep clicking back your EPA until you see the wheels move. Once the wheels move stop adjusting as that's where you want your EPA to stay. Do the same for the right steering.

Spektrum RX does fit, I have the Spektrum micro receiver in mine to save a bit more space. It's a good idea to buy an OFNA 5 cell AAA hump pack.

You don't need anything else to install the motor. The kit comes with a collet, clutch bell, shoes, engine mounts etc.

Good luck and have fun.

I talked to someone at nitrohouse which is inside the OFNA building and they said december is when the RTR will come out. This kit is 80% assembled so it should be easy.

I got the Picco .12 w/ the kit. Should I sell it and get a different .12? I just want to be able to tune it well.

I have a choice of getting a few motors for my Ofna jammin CRT .5 1/12 scale truggy first I'm thinking of getting the JLR red dot .12
But I have found some great deals on a couple other motors one is the Orion wasp drone .12 and the second is a rare Rossi pixy R12 the Rossi claims 1.6 hp at 37,000 rpm and not sure on the wasp but it is 1.5 I believe. but is it usable hp?

My question is this. The Rossi motor sounds pretty nice but is it a well made motor is it a good match for the application I need it for? is it durable motor? I would like some feed back from some one who has had this motor.

Ohh, you'd be glad to get .8 HP out of that sucker. I'd think .6-.7hp.

That O.S. .18TZ makes maybe 1 hp. you think you be getting even half of that HP rating, you be lucky. And numbers it's slower too, because it's a .18. Press OK

Ok wait a minute you say the OS .18 TZ does not make the 2.1 hp at 37,000 rpm like the factory says. Now I know all about the power thing I build race motors for motorcycles and our Hp ratings come from all kinds of sources most important where do you measure the Hp from the crank or the wheels that makes a huge difference. I can take a 5 hp motor and fool a dyno into thinking it has 20 hp with the right hemispherical conditions. And yes I know some bigger displacment motors will never produce the hp as some smaller displacment motors just because the way the two are designed.

So back to the Hp thing on these little motors. So what is a good choice. I can get the .18 TZ for 130.00 shipped a Pixy R12 for 160 shipped a wasp drone for around 150 shipped maybe cheaper and a JLR .12 red dot for around 175 I have not priced a OS .12 TZ but the one I saw was 279.00 and I thought that to be way to high for a OS then a Novarossi will be around the same price as the OS but I know that they rip I use them in my 1/8 buggies and they scream and last forever if you keep them tuned right and take care of them. Next I saw a Orion wasp .12 REV which is a on road motor for 260 something I think some one on here put one in there CRT .5

Any ways there are so many choices. I don't run these small block motors I have a Kyosho 09 and have had a 2.5 rustler 2.5 TMAXX and a 3.3 JATO but thats pretty much it on the smaller guys and a few TRAXXIS bigger guys.

So from your knowledge of running these small block motors what is a decent one to get. Or should I just get the car with the Picco 7 port .12 in it?

I know the RTR will have cheaper parts and the new .12 Ofna jammin motor in it it says that right on the Ofna web site.
