I know the TX will work with PPM and PCM but what about the R790 receiver? It would be nice to switch to PPM when setting up a gasser and once all looks good switch back to PCM. Just curious. Looking to squeese all I can out of this new TX and RX.

The 790 is an SPCM receiver. Receivers are never selectable. I can't think of a benifit to setting up an airplane with PPM over PCM.

dsnyder,

If you set up a gasser with FM and have any RF issues you'll know it right away and you can correct the problem. PCM tends to hide some of the problems and you may not know you have a problem until it's to late. Thanks for the info.

Here is an article for range testing that might help. Using FM will not work as well as PCM so it can cause an issue rather than finding an potential existing issue. PCM won't hide any problems if you range test.
