HI Marlin,

I would fly it without spinner first. I think you would like it without spinner. After flying it decide if you want to add a very light spinner or not. 3 1/2" Extra or P-51 style would look really good!

Good Luck!
Reza

Hi All,

I will be redoing my plane with YS 1.10 so compare the performance in compare to OS 1.20 AX. I will keep you posted.

Also an Electric conversion is in the works as well. That should be a lot of fun too. I will keep you updated on that. The YS and OS performance comparison on this plane will happen prior to Electric conversion.

This should make it very clear as which engine would give you the best performance.

Reza

My money is on the mighty 110. I don't think that engine can be beat in this class.

Let us know what you think. When will you have some info?

Good luck.

THanks
Barry

rezagh, what do you put on it to start it? Are you flipping the engine? Or are you using a starter? Do you have any pictures of the from of this plane? I will keep you informed of how that motor works for me. Marlin

Hi marlin,

Yes, I use a starter. The OS starts with one rotation. I assume you could use a chicken stick. I will post pictures once I install the YS on it.
I will post plenty of pictures for the electric set up when I receive the parts and get to start on it. I need to build a new plane for that and with current projects I have in hand it will take some time.

Regards,
Reza

Chris (cje0114)

Have you got any flight reports of the 69" yak with a saito 125 yet?

Thanks
Jonathan

I put 5 flights yesterday, and 9 more today.

The Saito 1.25 is a perfect match for this plane. It came out out at 8 pounds 2 ounces RTF. Vertical is unlimited, and hovers are 1/3-1/2 throttle with a very nice pullout.

The Yak is a 3D monster, but it really shines with precision flying. This plane really grooves through the IMAC sequences.

Great Pictures Chris.
Thank you for sharing!

I knew the Saito 1.25 would be a great macth.

Whenever you get a chane please some pictures of your engine install for those who might want to try it with Saito 1.25!

Regards,
Reza

Thanks Reza.

I'll be pulling the cowl off one night this week to go over everything and make sure all the nuts and bolts are tight on the engine and mounting hardware along with a complete check of the entire airplane.

I'll post some pictures as I take the cowl off to show my install.

Hey Reza,

I really like the way the Yak 69" is so light, and it looks like exactly what I'm looking for. I have an old YS 120 AC that pulls like a horse. Right now I have it on an old Goldberg Sukhoi that weighs 10.5 lbs with 28 oz/ft^2 wing loading, and the vertical capability with this engine is unlimited. The problem however, is the high wing loading, which makes the plane very ponderous and sluggish. This is what makes the Yak 69" so attractive.

Would the YS 120 AC be a good fit for the Yak 69"? The engine weighs about 32 oz without muffler, and I would use a Slimline Pitts style muffler if I put the engine in the Yak 69". I would also like to mount the tank close to the CG. Would this be a problem?

Hi Brenner,

My only concern is balancing the model. Mine with OS 1.20AX that 10 OZ lighter than yours balanced well without the spinner. I think it is doable but will require you to take some extra steps. Moving the tank is possible but not very easy due to wing tube guide. Actually I would have to look at mine to refresh my memory on that.

Power and wing loading should still be fine with that engine. My electric set up will weigh more than OS or YS set up and I am confident wing loading will still be good!

Good Luck,
Reza
