imo, your money would be better spend on a blade cp pro for the one reason that collective pitch will handle wind and fixed pitch won't. as far as a step up from a cx2, cp helis are not much different to fly than fp while you're learning the basics. as you progress to forward flight, the fp will fail you and leave you grounded in the wind, where as the cp pro will move forward with you until your ready to do some serious 3D, wind or no wind. when you're training, the biggest difference between cp and fp is setup; there are more details in settin up a cp machine correctly. as far as durability, the main problem with collective pitch helis is they break servos faster than fp helis. the servos are easily upgradeable. you can get very durable metal gear servos when one breaks, which would make them pretty much bulletproof. aside from being hard on servos, cp machines are superior in every way. when it comes to cp helis, there are many brands to choose from. owning both esky and eflight helis, i found eflight to be consistently have a better design and more precision. i have no direct experiences with walkera, but have read many stories from ppl who own both eflight and walkera helis and it seems they are always saying walkera is trash. being human, we all tend to recommend what we use ourselves (darn egos). so it is important to listen to the facts that ppl are using to support their claims. usually someone who owns both helis can tell you honestly which one is better.
