I just picked up this Citabria fuselage tonight and will be getting the plans for the rest of it soon. I was wondering if anyone has seen a kit like this. The fuselage measures 57" or so in length and it is a big bird. Any ideas as to who made this kit. I take it that she is an oldie.

Thanks

I dunno but that's some great craftsmanship.

indeed it is. The plane looks great. I think it will say on the plans when I get a hold of them. The plane was given to me tonight by a friend of mine. Great looking bird, can't wait to see her fly.

It's a Bud Nosen Citabria and it will look something like this when completed!

bass1, did your citabria come with a glass cowl? The cowl on this one is all wood and the pants are as well. I am wondering. Looks to be a little different than the Bud Nosen's I have seen so far. If it is indeed a Bud Nosen I would like to know what size motor and all would be good in it.

The built up cowl and wheel pants are real cool but being old and lazy I chose the after market fiberglass components. You'll get alot of opinions on power for this bird and some guys prefer 23/26cc gassers but since the original plans were designed around a .60 2 stroke glow (mid 70's??) I opted for a Saito 150. ( I prefer a lighter wing loading) Mine weighs about 16lbs and flies nicely (scale like) but it's not a vertical monster by any means. It has a flat bottom wing like the full scale version and is limited in performance due to this. It is a fun airplane to fly but you need to be on " on the rudder" at all times. Do a search and you'll get some great insight on the model. Have fun!!

I bought the Decathalon cowl as it was a little less "clunky" looking.

pilottangocharlie,

Have you got the engine? If not, you may want to do a preliminary balance before you make a decision. Nosens (I had the big Cub) build a bit heavy and often need nose weight. I have seen the Citabrea balance well with a G38 or Quadra 35/42.

You will enjoy it!

No I haven't got the engine for it yet. I thought about doing the G38 but I don't want the engine to protrude from the cowling at all.
