19k will do it, or roughly 550 kv and around 38 volts.

For now the Castle Creations HV110 is the best,
Thunder Power batteries is looking to jump into the speed
control industry which should give us another great product...

The Turbax Fan is not a 6" Fan; it is 5". See page 39 of the Fying Models Feb. 2007 Issue for the Byron Conversion. Bob Ruff shows it with a Hacker A50-14S and a Castle 110-HV powered by a 11S-4600 mah Thinder Power Extreme.

Use the Byron fan in a model designed for it. That is, a model with cheater holes to feed it enough air. If you were to put the Byron in a model with full inlet ducting, it'd need to have larger inlets than an ETurbax model since it has a larger diameter. You'd thus need more power for the larger model.

thanx ed waldrep

the byron fan will be used in a project im going to make.

you can read more of that here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5431625/anchors_5431625/mpage_1/key_janmaxx/anchor/tm.htm#5431625

the car will have the same inlets as these. half inlets on both sides:

will the byron fan i posted in the link work with these inlets ?

janmaxx,

To get the most performance from the Byron fan with out a cheater hole your intake will need to have the same area as the fan itself. With the F-104 then, each intake would need to be a half circle of 6" diameter. If the body of the car your building is not that big, then you will need cheater holes to get the extra air into it, otherwise you will not get enough air to feed the fan. If you put the cheater holes on the bottom of the car then you will have a great vacume cleaner for the track too! (fan life will suffer though) To mount the Hacker motor you need the adapter that Electric Jet Factory sells, its about $35.

I have two Byron F-86s with OS .91 I want to replace with electric motors. My plan is to do everything the same one would with a DF glow engine except use an electric motor for propulsion. The start of this thread indicates the Byron fan at 19,000 rpm will work well. What motor and battery power would be required for 22-25,000 rpm as I recall this is the rpm range with the glow engines? I am even hoping to make an adapter to utilize the stock Byron glow engine mounts. Any comments or suggestions from you veterans as electric power will be new to me.

Sean,

Thanks for the info. I just thought of changing from glow to electric with the two Bryon fan units and wanted to know if anything is available. Please keep me posted on your project and which items you buy. I also would be interested in knowing the rpm your motor will
turn the Byron fan.

Regards,
Mike
