Status: offline 		Iwould like to build asig 1/5 scale cub but I would like to do a military version such as an L4. Can anyone tell me if there are any conversion plans such as adding the extra observation windows in the cockpit, etc.

Status: offline 		Havent seen any plans for a sig conversion, but Busa has one. I'm building the 1/4 scale J-3 kit and an L-4 from their plans.

Status: offline 		I converted a herrs 1/2A cub kit to the military version which was not too hard to do as it was a simple kit to build. For the windows i just reinforced with light ply which also served as the look of the roll cage. I went with the olive drab and silver paint scheme. I also made my own tail logo by modifying in photo shop the standard cub logo. which if anyone would like to use can feel free to do so. if anyone would like them in a different format let me know

Status: offline 		You've picked a great kit to bash (Sig 1/5). The re-build of the center section and turtledeck is very straightforward. This was my first scale kit; I used scale 3-views and many photos from the 'net, along with proportional calipers, to make the mods necessary to convert the J-3 to an L-4. Wood dowels, or carbon fiber rod, work well for the "jungle gym" framework inside the cabin; you can delete the two wing tubes and add another screw to each wing root. I have many pictures of my conversion that I'm happy to share. I've flown mine for the last four years, up 'til last fall, when I stalled it and tore out the wing roots (it hit nose first). The center section mods held up perfectly, though.

The plane will gain some weight, but the airframe can afford it. With my mods, scale gear, Koverall finish and some repairs, it weighs about 11 pounds, but a .65 Saito drags it around with power to spare.

I also have the BUSA 1/4 J-3, still a box of stix, and I have the BUSA L-4 plans. The plans don't include the complete greenhouse, just the back half and turtledeck. The wing attach area is still sheeted. I've seen one built to these plans, and I think it can be done much better with just a bit more "re-engineering" I plan to modify mine the same way I did the Sig.

Status: online 		fieseler156 thanks for the plug. Guys yes I’m building an L-4. I have a little on my site on the build. Sorry not for many updates as I’m pouring every second I have into the build. If all goes well I will have it at Toledo this April. This project is a scratch build as I’m drawing the plans. I will agree the top cabin area is a place of little strength, but can be built up easily.

L-19 is a totally different airframe, different mfg (Cessna Model 305) from the Super Cub (Piper PA-18). The military Super Cub is the L-21. I don't know of any plans or kits, but your kit could be fairly easily bashed to one.
