Howzit PowerPark...

The onshore wind in the above video was so strong at times it would 'blow' my board forward of the wave wen I jumped.
The board is pretty quick. I am running the motor on 3.5 degrees timing....

Even when one compares rcSurfing to rc Boating, I have to agree, it is way more 'convenient- to date I have not had to 'recover my board'

Run times can be like 'the length of a piece of string'.....depending on ones surfing/ridding style, surf conditions and water temperature...I run 'on average 15 - 20 minutes.

I use 5800mAh 3s packs.

Awesome Vid Maui Bozy !

I used to dig just getting the big air, But Maui J, and BB Taught me how to actually RIDE WAVES Rc Surfing.
The Trick was to relax in the pocket, and trim down the turn servo. It's now a Full on Fluid flowmotion ...

Hey Jock !....once again, you captured a few great waves...nice video....well done.

MJ....great to 'sea- you doing your stuff...a 'hollow' wave is always a good backdrop for a perfect ride.

Hugh....you are shredding those waves.....great stuff mate !

Curlz...... good to hear you have mastered the ride...please share a few video's with us beginners.......a decade of rcsurfing has got to have produced some awesome footage.

Big Air - Barrel rides - Face carving - Off the lip moves - all equates to STOKED rcSurfing.

MJ....what is the height of your surfer from water level...its nice to know to get an accurate estimate of wave size.

Bro is 330mm's (13 ") from water level....roughly a foot.

Howzit MJ....keep the videos rolling..they are 'great'..it sounds like Maui is having some great surf. Thanks for the info.

I have got to say that a rcSurfer must be one of the most convenient rc concepts to enjoy.Simply plug in the battery and 'GO OFF !...when you are done - unplug - charge - NO CLEANING !

Had a laid back blues session this afternoon....

Hello Boyz.....

The Hurley Pro event put me into Build mode.....glad to say we have broken out!

Made the trip to our Mecca here in SoCal...

Here we are.. the Dynamic Duo...Nikki and Melika

This Miss Melika Storm #3...I gave her a new body and used Melika #2's head and hair...couldn't let that beautiful hair go to waste now could I?

Right off the bat...Melika was ready to have some fun

This board is my version of the Rusty T Dwart....which if you remove that 'w' is my name!

Back to the action...

How about a side view...

Waves are 4-6 "Good" according to Surfline

The 'boyz were checking her out.

Of course my favorite shot was blurry...had to make this artsy version for you all...

Sure wish I could use my DSLR and Surf at the same time...

My batteries are all charged again...I haven't even looked at the videos yet...I heading back out , but I will leave you with this:

GEEZE Tom, Talk About Glassy Conditions !!!

YPC - I don't think I'll ever Master it, Just stoked I got some tips from The Top.
A simple trim off the servo (Throw range) made all the difference in the world.

You have done a great job Rc Surfing, Not a beginner anymore for sure.
I need to talk My 'Boss' into filming more. A better Camera might Help...
With My New Board "Coming soon" I'll have to get some footage.

The Board is now ready to hit salt water, The Bench tests went well.
Just taking my time on it, Have other projects going as swell.

The Mecca Wave, and even a possible reality show, that the TV execs are looking at about Killer Bees With Lance Davis
a good friend of mine, and asked me to bee part of it, As They need a few "Characters", I guess old Curly Could Qualify as one of those ...

Here is a shot on the set. The Guy Filming is with the "Deadliest Catch" Film Company

Dom,
Your videos make me want to go to rc in Cape Town (except for retrieving stranded rc in Great White back yards)
Conditions look consistent and very smooth. Now you need to show us some of the bigger waves that come in from the south.....
Your Bro is inventing new moves every time it goes out.

Kite,
I can just imagine the stir you cause with the 2 girls on the beach bike/trailer.
You sure get glassy conditions there - I really must make more effort for next BroDown to meet you all.
How do you keep the hair from getting tangled?

Hugh started shaping next board #8 - triple winger swallow 32" long with no keel & very little Vee.
I will post pictures as the build comes along.

ALOHA

Hey MJ...Fishoek sure has good days.....often closes out a tad to soon......that's beach breaks....always fun never the less.....I'm just loving this rcSurfing !

Curlz.....cant wait to 'sea' the new board...sooooooon.....how about a few close up pics in the meantime. What are you using for the Surfer ?

The show sounds like it could be a buzzzzzzzz......LOL.......I used to build props for sets back in the day....I love the 'flat out' energy on movie sets...have a few mates that own Gripper companies good luck with it....

Howzit Hugh....

Its funny how we wish we could be in some one else's back yard...........I look at your pics/video and wish I could be 'shredding Maui'......LOL - who knows ! A few of my friends have lived in Kona !.....studied at WyWam

I battle rcSurfing the 'bigger' Atlantic surf beach break. Mostly ! the waves are 'gnarley' - much further out - making it difficult to 'sea' Bro beyond the white waters.....or its just 'swarming' ( buzz word) with drone surfers ............

Bro has been pulling a few 'moves' out of the bag.....I love the surprises !

Hey !......we'd love to have you in Cape Town !......It would be great to host a Bro week in South Africa......It will make for a great DVD - rcSurfing Africa !..

Sounds like you are back in 'build mode'.....with interesting concepts......!.....I'm also building another board ( between surfing.....)
I am sticking with my current board design......really enjoying it on a whole. As much as I have learnt how to build these guys I need to spend some time learning how to 'shred them'......timing/reaction/position.......all makes for the perfect ride......

look forward to the pics !

Hey Guys, Im using 3300 2 cell lipos. They fit great and are very light. Combined with the brushless motor. The surfer is silly fast. I think with all the wave jumping Im going to shoe goo the connections in the receiver. I can see them pulling apart and getting stuck out there. Hey does anyone know what pitch the prop is for the kyosho rc surfer. I bought a few of them from surfcurls. They work great!

Howzit PowerPark....

To add to the info....1.4 is what is know as the props 'box ratio'....

To 'calculate'( here I go again) the actual props pitch - PITCH = Prop Diameter X box ratio

eg. You should have a prop with a 27mm diameter.

27mm X 1.4 =37.8mm pitch ( for every rotation the prop forward screw equals 37.8mm)

Keep in mind that in 'reality' there is a degree of prop slip that needs to be considered ( prop inefficiency) usually around 20%

Brushless motors also 'do not' in reality produce the theoretical RPM calculated when Totaling kv x V's

Actual speed will depend on the collective efficiency and load of the overall package.......BUT.....the right 'size' prop is the best place to start.

If your motor - esc and battery are running cool... after a 5 minute run - the prop is well suited - if you are generating high heat....try a 'SMALLER DIAMETER /prop

Hi Bearcave....great video.....looks like a few of the Maui Boyz waves...

I think those are the size of waves Hugh wants me to ride with Bro!..................LOL...imagine the Big Air....LOL

We have a few deep sea brakes in Cape Town - like Dungeons and Sunset that produce big open face for tow -in rides.....its awesome to watch.

Listen - I would sure look like a rcSurfer if ever you managed to get me onto a face of a wave like that "Scared STIFF"....surely die trying.

Howzit Jock...I stumbled across this old video of yours - looking for on-board rcsurfer footage - pretty cool - I am going to try some with my GoPro and mix int into the video's - imagine been able to edit a ride looking at parts of the wave from shore and parts from the board......insane

I see back then you to Liked the Big Air- 1:10 30 feet ....nice jump

Hey All,

Got back to reality...and back to work...yuck! But managed to go through the video footage I captured with my helmet cam. I am getting better at holding my head still and at using Adobe Premiere Pro. But it is all very time consuming.

Hope you like:

Sorry about 15 seconds of black screen...have no idea what happened there.

I still haven't gone through the photos/footage I got of Nikki....she broke her arm at the end of the first day and had to sit and watch while her arm was in a sling yesterday....

The perfect spot has some teeth...that water is so shallow a long ways out.

My favorite spot for sure....waves around home seem so.....wimpy.
With a little luck we can go back next week.

Big waves=Big Jumps!

Howzit Kite .........that was a great video to wake up to ( yes Bearcave I do dose off every now and then...)I am happy to see that you got the video sorted.....it sure is one up on photos.

Awesome face ridding - sweet barrel - great jumps - you have your Diva's under control.........I can see why you love that spot.....I would certainly 'go back'

I dont know if you noticed - your video heading - Testles is missing the r - has a very different meaning to what you exsperienced........LOL

go to youtube - Video manager - edit the video - correct title.....done !

You will be sure to get 'plenty' of hits with the 'Trestles' title... especislly with the Go Pro Trestles/Kelly add....

Keep em rolling......
