Propeller tubes.....

I was thinkin if you had a stainless outer tube mounted solid in a board it could be the tube the other wearable brass/bronze tubes could be inserted into..... i think K-H2o already does this..... apart from a way solid permanent fixture the extra weight could add to the self righting as well.

Anyway if a permanent staino tube was part of the board.... all types of drive scenarios could be fitted then easily removed for bearing replacement or solid to flex drive hey whatever.

So my question is.... what kind of glue/silastic/loctite could be used to provide a seal but still be able to be heated (or whatever) to release the worn bearing tube from the staino permanent tube easily for replacement?

Obviously running thrust point at the prop end of the tube would need more design thoughts (maybe run thrust washer system bearing on outer tube) but thinkin something solid as part of the board and easily replaceable wear bits maybe good for a long and repairable life for a board...

and maybe its already been sorted and i missed the post...... lol

Bear....

This style of stuffing tube / bearing combo is part of MJ's "Magic" MauiRCSurfer design. The only thing I'm tinkering with is cross drilling the removable stuffng tube bearing. MJ sweat solders the two together making replacement possible.

I saw these cross drilled bearings on HobbyKings site, but I fabracated one up myself. I'm hoping for better grease retention in the all important bearing surface.

Saildoggie,
Actually we even forgot to put the GoPro in the waterproof case.
That is why no video from the Copter. John was able to save most of the running parts
it seems to be very durable. Everything is now fixed and ready
to try again. John is getting alot better with the copter after a few runs with Karl
who is very experenced with copters giving him some tips...........Long runtimes, jock

Hi Guys  Here are is the parts list for my drive shafts,  It is nessesary to use a lathe to cut down diameters to make things fit togather. a drill and a file could be used if you are handy with it.  and a 4mm ream is needed and a die to cut the threads on the end. this is for the small 26" boards.  May not be a help if you arn't in the US or dont have the tools.

Resinator-  On my 40" board 10" wide I put a Leopard 4082 1000kv and on 6 cells it goes around 30mph

A little input on stainless steel.  While working on a Hydrogen generator we use stainless steel as our electrolis plate to split water molecules into Hydrogren and oxegen atoms in a sodium hydroxide solution and found that 304 Stainless wasn't all that it was suppose to be, "corrosive resistance", but found that 316 Stainless was 100 times more resistance than 304. So if you can find what you need in 316 Stainless it's worth looking into.
Hope it helps, Later BB

K-H2o Karl....

someone into surfing shaping AND the mechanics of driveline's moving surfers and custom radio systems seems unusual in general land lol but all good imo... thanks for the info.
i'm havin a go this year to build one..... here is a pic of rough cut 28"x 8.5" shape compared to my nqd and kyo... may pull the nose in and lower the wide point yet depending on rocker etc..... but atm still keen to run a solid shaft.

btw i've also heard that 316 staino has the best corrosive resistance......love the copter vision too lol

I was wondering if you might share your thoughts on the swept down tail on the new deck..... could it be for flexing strength in wipeouts regarding water intrusion or simply just better stylin..... whatever i like it..... like your latest two vids too YPC

Saildoggie - I think the 48' surfer is going to start with 2 6-cell 5000s wired to produce 6-cell power with 10,000mhs. One of the reasons I went big is to hold more batteries. more run time , more power, more FUN!  i have started on the man but still trying to get a grip on how big he needs to be. The doll is always the hardest part for me. Get ready for another Frankenstein.

K-H20- Thanks for the info. I have a 38'model that runs on 5-cells, man is it fast! Any Ideas on prop size?

Larry- Thanks for interest . get my phone number from John, and I will give you a look.

Jock- I have been thinking of this build since i got started in rcsurfing. I can't wait to see what it will perform like! Thanks for the support.

John-If you can stand up on this pig it's yours! weedwacker motor... not a bad idea.lol . Your new model looks unreal.

Aloha,

i wish i did not have to put the hump step down thing ,, but i have to fit a five cell batt. in there,,, and it works good

for the control rod for the fin ,, i would like to streamline the hump out but the batt would not fit,

you have a good eye,, most people would not notice that,,

                                                                                                                                                  maui john
