Put some footage from today online.

The surf has been choppy windblown s**t for weeks, we must be due for some good waves soon....

.Sebski,
Same here  bro.
I keep lookin' but it has been pretty bad.
I don't wanna even send the Dude out unless it's lookin' reasonably good.
Looks like another week off howling southerlies here.

Goggz,
About the new board stock.
Somehow I thought you might say that.
Looks like the Dude on that thing is doin' ballet or somethin'.
Ha Ha Ha.
Hey mate, how did the manta ray fin test?

Sea ya.

Kindred Spirits,
After seaing Goggz great looking new "Surf-Nazi" board earlier today, I decided to do a bit more work on my Kyosho Lisa.
Painted the rails this evening.
Should look good in the water.
Still have a bit to do before I take her for a test run.
Going well so far.

Anyone bought one of those bizarre Martian spaceships yet?

Ha Ha Ha, what a joke!!!
The thing probably shreds better than a Kyosho RC Surfer being operated by Spencer Johnson, NOT!!!

Sea ya crew.

Seb,
Well, I got home from work today and the 3 couplers that I ordered had arrived.
I openned the package and could not believe it.
They sent me three the same as the one I got the other day, the one with 4 grub screws.
I am a little pissed off because the picture they used to advertise it was the screw on type like you use.
As these are even shorter than the Kyosho ones there is no need to drill out the hull.
However, I am now uncertain if the shaft I ordered will reach far enough out of the hull.
What a hassle.
I will be writing to the store that sold these and letting them know they are not what I ordered.
What a freakin' drama.
Sea ya.

JIMI

 Jimi,

It's like divine intervention is preventing you from having a flexishaft set up..... If you had a 5mm motor shaft end I'd just give you one of mine out of sympathy.

Send an email to the shop and complain.

The surf here is just as bad as in WA, onshore choppy surf everyday....annoying.

Goodluck buddy,

Seb

Sebski,
All is not lost bro, I just had a look and I can still use the propshaft in my Kyosho stuff tubes. (Despite what Cananzi said the other day)
The coupler I have will fit the Kyosho stuff tubes I use.
They should be fine because they don't have bushings like the ones you use with the holes in.
My whole tubes are the same diameter as the bushings in your tubes!!!
Yes, a small amount of the flexi-end sits inside the tube but that really does not matter as it makes no contact with the tube.
The ones with bushings in the end that you use are obviously better due to less friction.
But the result is I can still use the flexi-end shaft you are using with my stuff tube and coupler and it will work fine.
So while it is not the best outcome I still have a flexi coupler setup that will work and I don't need to drill out the hulls.
I am thinking I might get some slightly larger diameter brass tubing and cut to the same length as my Kyosho tubes and use small sections of my Kyosho tubes as bushings.
Then I will have less friction in the tube and a flexi set up that fits without drilling out the hulls or soldering over holes in the tube.
I really didn't want to drill out the Kyosho hull anyway.

I am going to fit it to my current board this evening and will give it a test run when a suitable time arises.
I think I just need to find some brass tubing that a Kyosho tube fits inside and make my own stuffing tube with bushings.
Just hope the grub screws don't **** up the flexi end too much.

The way I sea it, any flexi coupler set up is better than any direct coupler especially once you are running on LiPo.

I did send an email expressing my disappointment to the seller of the couplers for using the misleading picture in the advertisement.

Fingers crossed bro.
Sea Ya.

Hello Crew,
Tested the new flexshaft / coupler in Kyosho tube setup in small perfect lefts @ "Point Moore" this morning.
It went very well.
I am still getting some water in the motor bay.
But I am pretty certain it was not coming in through the tube.
No water in the hull.
I think I might have a leaky footpeg bolt to attend to.

I am working on something else that is pretty cool at the moment.
Should have a picture over the weekend.

Sea ya.

I would suggest to do some research on lipos, especially how to charge them and you will find your answer.

Saltypirate,
Hang Loose Bro.
Seb is right mate.
Read up on 'em a bit and keep safe.
These things are real cool and quite safe as long as you know what to do with them.
Otherwise I have heard they can turn into DYNAMITE.
Understanding discharging cutoff threshhold and charging and balancing is very important.
Have fun readin' up Salty!!!

Managed to bring Lisa down about 6cm with 4 cuts and some fiberglass. Will test when the surf is better as we are now on day 17 of onshore crappy lumpy chuncky ****ty damn surf...... I'm not a big fan of summer surf conditions.

Hey John,

I have not used her in a while as conditions have not been good for it. I retired the first one (mo) the second had such a heavy keel it never leaned so I made a third at 35" and to scale of the lisa board as it surfs well.

It needs waves that are clean and no wind or she flips out as she is only 2.6kg and if it gets hit with the white wash it comes all the way to the beach and on to the sand as it is so buoyant. Little lisa goes under the wave when wiped out as it is so heavy which is good for shore-breaks which is all I have had to play with for months now. Conditions here of recent are not as good as in Maui.

Trust me, as soon as I can use her I will as I want some footage of her ripping up some nice clean waves. Can't remember the last time I saw waves like this!

Whats been happening in Maui??

Seb

I haven't needed to make more, that is until I am not happy with my latest surfer.

To be honest, to not have white foam dust from one side of the garage to the other and covering everything in between is a nice change! It's messy stuff when you start sanding it!

So now we have one Lisa with a tummy tuck and elephant feet, one midget, and now .............one hobbitt !!!  Ha Ha!  Looks good, man.  I'll be interested to hear your opinion of your moded Lisa, since youn have surfed both unmodified, and now (or soon ) , modified versions.  Do you think it's worth it ?  My modified Lisa seems to work great in the ocean, but I never surfed mine in original condition , so I can't compare them. I only tried stock Lisa in the pond.

I think it's cool to see more and more modified surfers out there, Dude, real Lisa, or fake Lisa  (  what to call her?.... mars Lisa ? ,  dudette ?  Risa ? )  Love the skull head, too !!

We are moving into winter up here, so that is putting a damper on any surfing.  It stinkin snowed on monday, and with the wind, it was minus 11 out !! we're not used to that kind of weather.  True, I live in Canada, but I don't live in an igloo or own a dog sled !!   Hopefully you guys will get some decent waves soon.  Later !

Sea Spirits,
Got a few little waves at pages this morning.
Only tiny but it was perfect!!!
Great fun even though it was only 1 foot faces.
I should have taken my Gath cam but I forgot.
The new coupler-shaft setup is working great.
Still getting wet sponges.

I have to disagree with Techy Joe's idea about the connecting the pushrod low on the servo arm.
I tried it the other day and after a couple of packs I changed it back to the top of the arm.
I just use the rudder trim dial on the Tx and set it about half way for normal surfing and then wind it on full if the surf is tiny or when I need to escape the soup.
I like to have maximum turn if I need it, so if you get caught in the soup you can wind it on with your thumb and push through.
I reckon you would agree with that Seb.
Especially surfing in shorebreak so often.

Bob sent me another cool pic from "Point Moore" a while back.
He has been away working a lot but the surf has been pretty cruddy most of the time anyway.
Can't wait to get some photos of the new board in action.

Sea Ya
JIMI
