Hey Skypilot

Laser V-twin? On a GP Patty Wagstaff Extra 300 ... wicked! ... no undue vibes, dispite sounding like a HD at idle!

I have a double throw crank boxer engine ... on my BMW R1100S ... a little too big for model use though!

Enjoy!

fiery,

How did you mount the twin in the patty? Any photos?

I've wanted a bmw for some time now. I have two boxers at this time, a saito 90 ts and a OS 160 gemini. Both are really smooth with less vibration than a smooth .15 size engine.

Laser 180 in a 1/4 scale Nieuport Triplane, Xoar 18/6 prop. It's the best flying WW1 aircraft I have. Excuse the temporary tail wheel, I'm going to the Rocky Mountain Big Bird Festival next week (asphalt runway).

I have a 150 on a GP Gee Bee. Tuning the motor it broke a spring. Second flight it broke the other spring. The Gee Bee doesn't float very well. It has been repaired but it wasn't pretty. I believe it was corrosion from long storage that pitted the springs. Moral of the the story is to replace both springs if one breaks. Seems to be a great engine otherwise. Anyone know why Boca bearings doesn't list the sizes for the Laser Engines?

if you mean valve springs, then that's a bit disturbing......................
right now i have 3 engines on my list for my future Nieuport 28 project
Laser 200V
Laser 300V
OS ft300 twin

i know the dimensions on the OS, but can only find hieght dimensions for the Lasers.

i have a Laser 80 coming for my Proctor Nieuport 11 project, so i'm looking forward to seeing it.

That's weird. I'd inform Neil Tidey at Laser HQ to enquire about it.

Broke both valve springs. Proctor hooked me up with new ones. I got the engine used and the bearings were very rusty. I think the springs were pitted too and failed after about 15 min of running. I was running a APC 16x8 on the engine so I don't think it was over reving. I think it was turning about 8K. I don't blame Laser. Should have replaced both springs. Although if it happens again I might blame them

The Laser 150 is a gem. I kind of have two of them ... siamesed

I hope your engine is now in fine fettle, glad to see the US agent (Proctor) were able help with spares. I doubt you will have any further problems. These engines are the most bullet-proof 4 strokes available.

I am hoping to get back into flying the 300V (hanging off a much used GP Patty Extra ... it gave the old DA-50 the boot) soon.

Will take some pics and post in due course.

Does anyone have a source for different exhaust or mufflers for a Laser 150. I want use mine in an RT Aerospace T-34, but the muffler is an obstacle.

I have 200V and 300v, and both of it running very well and assuredly. The 200V has stop only ones and the reason was the fuel. It was empty. 300V ever. Thank's Neil.

Only what I thinking is that what about a engine whith more weight, the modell aeroplane wery often want more weight to the nose.

I guarantee you have definitely made the correct choice. I wish I could be there to see the smile on your face the first time you fire up the Laser.

I've had my 240 V for 3 years now and I still have a silly grin on my face every time it's run.
