Hi Guys: I just sent "jbarnes" a e-mail that maybe I should have posted, At any rate I will post it now. Starting a magneto engine it is very important to "time the prop" . By that I mean, without a prop rotate the crankshaft by hand to get the piston to Top Dead Center. Just grasp the drive washer and slowly rotate the crank until you feel the crank go over center at the top. The crank can be easily rocked back and forth at TDC and the feel is unmistakeable. Leave the crank at TDC and install the prop between 1 and 2 o-clock. Then as the engine is hand propped the magneto magnets will have the best possible rotational speed as they pass the pick up sensor. This will work every time. Magneto engines are my personal favorites, my Fuju BT-34B is a sweetheart. After prime it will start on the second flip almost every time and the third flip for sure. Best to all, E T
