Evenin everyone,
I have run into a small inconvenience that has caused me to inquire of your expertise.

I am putting together an EP Concept and it has a Great Planes C30 ESC with it. According to the instructions, yes I actually read them, there should be three capacitors and one diode on the motor to control noise from the brushes. They say that the diode will "provide a slight increase in the ESC efficiency and reduce its operating temperature." So, I am all for that.
There is one capacitor on each brush plate. I picked up the other missing capacitor today and installed it. The diode was another problem. It refers to it as a Schottky diode. There was approximately 16 different ones listed in the NTE catalog and I was not sure of the difference. Anybody have any help?

SOD323 or a SOD666 they are low voltage, high speed diodes used in speed controllers and the like, max voltage range of 10 volts.

The diode that came with my GP C-30 was a SK-506. Did a seach on it to check for what the specs were and to see if there was a cross reference to it. The SK-506 is a 5 amp Schottky Barrier Rectifier.

Thanks for the input, I may see if there is something a little higher current. Raising the cell count to 8 should lower the current some, but helis are always under load. So, thanks again. Should have this in the air by the end of the month.

Did you ever get it in the air?

I recently bought an EP Concept (should be here any day). Would love to hear some feedback. Thanks, Joe

yea rookie, did you ever fly that thing yet?? I put my concept on the shelf and got a Corona.... I like the Corona but I think it's time to pull the Concept back out, I have been crashing because of chopping the throttle and loosing rotor speed, = You can't control a bird without the blades spinning.. Time to get my CP machine in the air.... hahhaa, last night I was at the local field, I got about 100-200 feet of altitude, I could barley see the heli, then I notice it falling very very fast, when I realized it was inverted,, quickly chopped throttle, that slowed the machine down allot, then blades still spinning no power I got it on its side, forgot to bring the rotor speed back up, fell like a rock. It bounced about 6 feet in the air when it hit..... damage report::::: broke glue joint for the landing gear... broke battery mount... fixed with CA glue.. Corona's can take a beating.. this machine is fixed pitch I think thats why I could not recover. Mike
