Well I don't know if any of you remember me but I used to post here a lot and built a couple of trucks a few years ago. I got out of it and am looking to casually get back into crawling but on a smaller scale....I was looking at the HPI Wheely King, it is 2WD but can easily be converted to a 4WD. I think the chassis looks to be a better base to start from compared to the TLT-1 (doesn't look good stock at all....) So has anyone used the HPI Wheely King for crawling? Are there any pics or videos of it?
Thanks.

It needs some work to be a crawler. I personally wouldn't use the stock chassis. I made mine into a trail truck. I still have a lot to change but here are a few pics of the mods. Savage shocks, swamp dawg tires and a rubicon body will be mounted up next.

Not sure the body I want to run but here it is with an emaxx body on it. I need to pick up some savage shocks since the stock WK shocks are to short to pick the belly up off the ground any more.

Yea I figured I would need to mod it to make it any good, and make it 4wd for sure. As you can see I am no stranger to custom making parts, this is my old clod I built:

But the chassis appears to be higher off the ground then the TLT-1, which seems to be no good stock IMO. I don't want to spend a lot of money so I wanna stay small. I gotta sell my carpet racer Xray M18 and my Tamiya F201 in order to justify the Wheely King. So if anyone is interested in either of those let me know.

If you make a custom motor mount that clocks the motor lower in the chassis it would have a lot of potential. The axles are VERY stout and look great. The stock chassis isn't to bad really. A custom one would be way better no doubt. Gotta at least lock the rear diff too!

That clod looks sharp. to much flex though.

Yea I set it up for max flex for that pic, when it was actually completed it did very well, but I sold it I think I am going to pick up a WK if I can sell my other stuff.

I was suprised I couldn't find any real info on the WK or anyone really using them, they seem to have a lot of potential.

Crawler? I wouldnt call an e-maxx much of a crawler in comparason to a super rig.

Are you serious? Have you seen the TLT-1? There is NO ground clearence between the belly of the chassis and the ground.

well no one uses the stock chassis to crawl. Get an aftermarket chassis or make your own and it hauls.
