Hi,

I use an angle finder to duplicate the angle per plans and mark on the trusses. Then, cut a bit long (Fourmost products miter saw is great for this - just set the angle and cut), then sneak up and test fit (numerous times) with a miter sander (again, I have one from Fourmost that works great).

Hope this helps!

Bob

Bob got it right. Exactly how I do it anyway so that MAKES him right.

I just recently purchased a small 4" table saw. I set the angle and make the cuts a little oversize just as before and use the Foremost mitre sander to finish up.
The table saw just makes it quicker and more accurate to duplicate the cuts.

I cut everything a little bigger and sand to fit.

Make yourself a marking jig, no better way. I make the cuts on a 4 inch table saw. No sanding and the results makes perfect angles...Handing out some trade secrets guys..Hope this helps, Walt

Harbor freight $50.00...Works better than a bandsaw and disc sander for diagonals..One cut one fit, dead on Pictures are of a 260 I'm building right now. #140 and counting

Hey Guys, I use a 0.5 mechanical pencil which makes a very fine line to cut to. During my cut I take out 1/2 the pencil line with the curf which works out perfect so I don't have to go back and refit and recut the piece. It really speeds up the build and makes it very accurate..Walt

Geez, Walt - I just ordered the 4" saw from Harbor Freight. Give 'em a call regarding your commission check.

Thanks again for the tip - will come in handy on the 300 I just ordered...
