I had once read there was a more powerful battery for the XRB SR, but unable to find anything about it now. Anyone know if there is such a battery?

It was most llikely a LiPo battery, which can be used with most motors without harm. You'll need to speak to an expert to find out what voltage limit you'd need to adhere to for your particular motor. Ask a LiPo dealer, he'll know.
