Gentlemen
This is to advise you that APC has qualified a new prop 7.4x7.81
The prop is available from APC
Please consider this as official approval of the above prop in compliance
with the AMA 2007 rules.
This prop is similar to the 7.4 X 7.8 but with an increase in thickness
from station 4 decreasing to the original thickness at the tip. This
increases the natural resonant frequency from 46,000 RPM to 52,000 RPM.
It is recommended that all users continue to examine all of the new
series props after each run.

So, does that mean the original 7.8 is illegal?? Since my skills at this point don't justify the purchase I am going to continue with the older engine but does that mean I have to run the new 7.8-1 which is thicker(read heavier) and most likely won't turn up as much?? Just wondering...

Lee,

Exactly the question I asked on the NNMPRA site, only I included all of the old carbon props.

Gentlemen,
Has only the one prop been modified or have all the new props been reconfigured? Are the 7.5,7.6 and 7.7 also going to be re released?

We will have to wait for a ruling from the Race committee and see what APC accomplishes in the near future. Nothing else has been released as yet but I will keep you informed as info comes in. .

I think we're all wondering if the new beefier prop(s) will allow the LS to come into its "sweet spot" as well as the 7.6 and 7.7s did... "Patience is a Virtue". ((Did Ed Smith say that? - (wink))

New Propeller Qualified for Pylon Racing

3/8/2007--APC has qualified a new prop 7.4x7.81 The prop is currently commercially available

Please consider this official approval of the above prop in compliance with the 2007 Competition Regulations.

This prop is similar to the 7.4 X 7.8 but with an increase in thickness from station 4 decreasing to the original thickness at the tip. This increases the natural resonant frequency from 46,000 RPM to 52,000 RPM.

It is recommended that all users continue to examine all of the new series props after each run.

Propellers previously qualified continue to be legal for use in Radio Control Racing.

This is on the AMA web site and should answer all questions pertaining to the QM-40 Prop situation.

The above quote is now in the AMA rule for Q40.

It means that all of the propellers that, we were told failed at Phoenix, are still legal for use in any engine.
