Boss,
If your plane weighs 17 lb. My cap-x at 13.5-14 should be an absolute Rocket!!! I should have it in the air in the next few days, I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

Is your Cap X in the Alitalia scheme, or the old traditional?

The 6003 is the bearing size, all bearing companies make 6003 bearings....I didn't take the crank out but there was no manufacturer ID on the bearing, just the size...The rear bearing has black neoprene material in the seal...Black sealed bearings don't work very long in the G26s, They don't hold the crank pressure very well...No problem with the rear bearing as the case is solid on the back...A problem, if any, will show up as leakage from behind the hub and hard starting...Right now it starts really easy...Only time will tell, they might be good...
The Walbro on this one has been perfect right from the start, but I can look tomorrow for any plastic parts...No other Walbro I know of has anything like that...Is it visible in the venturi or under the steel cover ?
Hard to say about the pin, it's probably OK and the rod is slotted for better lube..There are no slots in the pressed in bearing in a DA....
Only marginal thing in this one is the compression, seems a little low but maybe with a little more run time the ring will seat better...It had no machining marks on it from the start...

I saw the DL 50 put through its paces today and I was very impressed .

A local guy at my club decided to give one a go in a 28 / 30 % extra he
had lying around . It previously had a ST4500 so the preformance was
les than fantastic to say the least . After the DL was run in on the ground
a bit she was sent into battle .

It had there std pipe and nothing special .. No dead sticks or lean runs ,it did three
flights by the end of the day and the owner went home a very happy customer

I have seen plenty of DA 50 in my time and this seemed to be very much on a parr

BTW I own a DA 100 and love it to bits

RCign,

Yes, the venturi is brass on the outside and a plastic sleeve on the inside.

I see the black seal on the front bearing and ws wondering if it ws going to hold up....if i see it start to leak , I won't wait to replace it.

I dont have a 10mm adapter for my compression tester. I would love to know what it is making.

................................................................................

Another good report on this one......what sea level are you at Stuart?? I am at or around 630ft.

-----------------------------------------------------

NMking, 14 lbs??? Yikes .....rocketship for sure. Better have the pilot strapped in good. MY Squirells almost lost thier peanuts!!!

Some bad news to report on My DL50.... My ignition crapped out in flight yesterday... Let me say the engine is running very smooth, and very strong....

Also, this airframe has had back to back ignition failures (first was my DA50, now the DL50).... I'm suspecting something in my setup (switch, wires, battery) is frying the ignition...

Called CH, and I'm going to put one of his on my DL50... CH is also selling the RCxl ignition (the one that comes with the DL) for $80, and in the future might have a good warrenty on them.

For future reference, the hall sensor, and bracket is NUMBER 4 on RCxl's list.

The engine is a keeper.

The venturi is the main hole in the carb...The high speed nozzle is under the brass piece with the ball in the center...It is not meant to be open at the top, there would be no control...There is a small hole near the edge of the cavity...fuel in the cavity goes through the small hole, then to the nozzle...the amount of fuel through the nozzle is determined by how far the HS needle is open...If you take the HS needle out and spray carb cleaner into the hole you should see it come out the venturi...The LS needle gets fuel through a small hole just under the inlet needle lever...
an engine will run with the HS needle almost closed, but not as well as with it set correctly...
the compression is getting better on this one, just needed some time to seat the rings...

Ralph,

nice explanantion of the main jet...I just thought it was open....I quess I really munged it up when I tried to clear it. poking, blowing 150 psi,,,carb cleaner...I probably trashd it. Oh, well, WT76 here I come.

Bahamadude....did you watch my video...I hovered it..not for long, because I stink ...but it hovered at 1/4 to 1/3 throttle on a 17lb plane....plenty of pull out.

I did some very violent snaps and tumbles today tryinng to get it to flame out....never missed a beat.

...................................

The ignition, ...I Gooped the wires coming out right away...because it seemed they could wiggle in the square holes on the side of the ignition...I just wanted to strain relief them, and stop vibration from breaking the solder joints inside....I dont know if it did any good...but mine is still running...and I thrashed it HARD today.

edit : ///I am using a FRomeco regulator set at 5.0v. with a TP 1320 Prolite 2S 7.4v battery.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I am going to keep flying it hard, every chance I get, to see if it holds up. I almost broke the plane today snapping and tumbling violently at 2/3 throttle trying for a flame out or hiccup. It never sagged.

No bolts have come loose, and the only thing that I can complain about, is that I put it in a crappy plane.

DO NOT USE 6V WITH THIS IGNITION. IT WILL DIE!!!!

mine did!! I contacted Steven and he is sending me another, because it has a 1 year warrantee.

They are rated to 6.3V.

The problem is that a fully charged 6 volt can easily put out more than 6.3V

Use 4.8

John

Mine wasn't fully charged, it was right at 6.25V. But that was close enough. I'm going with 4.8 for sure when I get the new one.

RCIGN,

Do you think that the high end problems decribed earlier in the forum were just due to the rings not seating well enough? I am working with Dr. Wack and we are having the same trouble. It will idle fine but dies when we go through mid throttle.
