I'm using a 6v Nicad pack.... 1400mah... I thought the Rcxl ignition was rated at 4.8, and 6???

I have tested the RCEXL with 6 volts ,I do not believe 6 volts would hurt it .But it does increase the battery drain about 150 MA and the power transister runs pretty hot.I does not need 6 volts ,spark is plenty hot with 4.8 volts. I just received a new order of the CHRCEXL igns and they no longer have 6 volts on the case.I have been flying one on one LYPO cell seems to work out fine. Hall sensor will quite before battery gets low enough to hurt it.Engine will just go into a high speed miss ,this is time to land .Engine will Idle OK.

WOW.....you can run this ignition on 1 cell?? 3.7v??? If that gets tested and is OK'd by the ignition maker...that would be HUGE!!!

2 more 0zs gone.....I just wonder will the spark heat suffer??

But how cool would that be.....1 TP730 prolite cell................I am running tp1320 2s and it doesn't need that capacity.....

Couldn;t tell you a complete discharge. But after five hard flights about 480mah was put back in the pack.

BC,

Thanks for your help the other day.

I had about 20 flights on the ignition running 6v, so I don't think 6v would fry it....

However, I left the ignition switch on all night by accident... I peaked the battery at the field, and DIDN't check the voltage... Fired up the DL50, did a quick range check (I had just installed new aileron servos), and took off... about half way through my flight (8 minutes), the engine just quit (I was at about half throttle).. (like I turned the switch off)...

Dead stick landing...

First thing I thought was the ignition battery was hurt when I left the switch on... So I checked the battery with a load check, under a .5 load the battery read 6.88 volts... it read 7.15 with no load...

I think that voltage is to high... just a guess..

Dennis

Yes, but what will Scott at Dawghouse's price be for the DL-50? I bet a million bucks it will be noticeably higher than $370 delivered! He sells the 3M for $420 plus shipping.

I'm guessing cheaper than the 3MM. seriously...... Looking at both engines, I'd say the 3mm is better quality. The muffler on the 3MM is like nothing you have seen before. Weighs about 5.2 oz. The DL muffler is pretty rough looking but weighs about 1 oz less.

OOopps, .. Ok, I see he's lowered the price to $390 plus shipping on the 3M. Was $420+ a month ago.

hvac,

That is excellent news. Several guys at my club are very interested in the new 50's (DL and 3MM)... So to have a distributer in the US is a big plus.... I would pay more (> $370) to someone in the US.

Well, you don't need to be telling everyone that .. out in an open forum. Y'all gonnna run the price of the DL-50 right up just below the DA-50! . ... You do know what happens when a supplier realizes he has a strong demand, .. don't you?

Also, we better hope this Scott doesn't get an exclusive on the DL-50 ... then we're guaranteed to be paying $470 for it!

Peakmodel is in New Zealand, and Mirc is in Hong Kong. You can order from them even if someone get's exclusive rights in the USA. FWIW, Mirc emailed me and said they will be offering the DL50 with different muffler options for $359 shipped to Virginia.

The DL manufacture will not raise the price, because they could lose business to the guy next door....

Just got e-mail from Steven (the guy I bought my DL from on e-bay, sylvian1975). He told me that he is going to list replacement parts for the DL on ebay in the next day or two. He is a very trustworthy person. Do not hesitate to buy from him.

He has been nothing but helpful in replacing my ignition, and in answering the questions I have had.
