Ran about a gallon through the 3mm 53cc this weekend! Got the needles almost perfect now and she is getting stronger with each flight it seems.
The WH Kap (mid-wing "adjusted" is a super fun bird and engine! I am extremely happy with both! Just awesome!

Have to agree with you on the 3MM. I tuned mine up for the Vess 22A and the transition is instantaneous and sweet. Got this crappy weather pattern in here now where it's nice all week and raining on the weekend for the last two weeks. Can't wait to wring this thing out. BTW, for all of you fans out there, here are the headlines on our club website, "Klye Woyshnis wins Unlimited Class and Mike Carreiro takes 2nd place in Advance Class in Medford Madness IMAC competition!!" Just a reminder that we're still here and breeding the best!!!

Hi, does anyone know if a DA50 muffler side mount muffler ( not pitts style) will fit this engine (don't ask). Need to know I find myself in need of a muffler and can get a good deal on the DA muffler from a DA owner that had a mishap with a tree.
Thanks

No, it won't. The bolt spacing is different, 40mm vs. 36mm. Why would you want to do that anyway? The TOC-53 comes with such a nice muffler, and it's a bunch quieter than the DA muffler.

The reason I need a muffler? The one that came with the engine came apart in flight. I noticed a distinct difference in the sound of the engine and landed. I discovered the weld joint that held the exhaust pipe had apparently failed and the pipe had fell off in flight. I tried welding another aluminum pipe on with the alum rods for welding aluminum . I have had a great deal of success repairing aluminum mufflers for glow engines for guys in the club with no failures, so I figured this would work on this muffler. WRONG! The weld looked good but failed. I strongly suspect the exhaust heat from a gas engine is much hotter than a glow engine. These rods melt at about 600 degrees. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem? I had about ten flights when it failed. I really like this engine. I got mine fro WildHare about a month ago, runs great and no problems other than the muffler. Got several guys in the club interested in this engine after they saw mine perform, even the ones that made fun of my Chinese engine. One guy already ordered his and is flying it on a Yak. I will tell you heads turned when our club ace was torqe rolling the heck out of my 30% Katana with this engine and I mean down on the deck

You should have reported it to me. The engine IS on warranty, after all.

You could buy it anywhere if you do not need support. That (support) is what I do.

BTW there are two other alternatives. Bisson is building a side mount wraparound pitts muffler for the TOC-53, and I now have a source for canister headers also.

If you would please email photos of your problem muffler to tom@wildharerc.com I will take care of the problem.

Hi, did not know parts were available, I think my muffler was the 1 in 1000 that fail, my luck. I just removed cowl for pics and remembered the rear end seam was coming loose I tried welding that too and it seemed to hold, must not get as hot as the exhaust pipe. I will get you the pics as soon as I can find some batteries for the camera. In any event I need a muffler, the stock one is fine, as I mentioned, I think the welder for this one was having a bad day. You can verify sale with the following info;

I got the pictures, but FYI I do not conduct business in a public forum. If you want to communicate with me call or email.

When you use this as a communications medium it slows things down. A lot.

I am having headers made in Canada. I have one sample that fits in the Sukhoi sort of (angle is off a little) and I have just run it for about a minute. I'm using a KS 86-4 with rear exhaust, it fits great and makes about no sound at all. All I can hear is the sound from the prop and the carb.

I have not had a chance to tach it, the first time I ran it up to full power the couple blew off because I had not installed anything to keep the muffler from moving backwards. The epoxy is drying now. For the 30 or so seconds it was at full power it seemed to be turning faster than I remember, but the sounds are all different when you can't hear the exhaust note so I will have to tach it after the glue dries.

I should have several headers available in about 2 weeks, it should fit in your Yakhoi fine. If you want to do one on the Kap I'll have to add those to the order.
