6.25" from the rear of the mount to the drive hub. THere is still a 10mm prop shaft protruding ahead of the drive hub, that part goes through the prop.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear, I'm used to answering this question about airplanes, not engines.

Tom, I'm pretty sure I already have one of these engines in my Edge 540T V2 but I got mine from BCMA Engines. Looking at the pics of these though they have to be the same engine. Even the mufflers are identical. Adam does use a different EI and carb though. I prefer your carb due to the fact that it has the servo arms installed. We going to see a price war on these? His are $425.00.

Nope, no price war. I charge what I think is a fair price, some people willbuy from me because I provide good service, some people will choose to save $14 and buy from a stranger.

I will have a show special at Toledo though.

One correction, exhaust on the TOC-53 has the same profile as a 3w, not a DA-50. Bolt spacing is 36mm, the DA is 40mm.

Tom, I now have 3 large Yak54s, quite frankly I'm all Yaked out. I'm really interesed to hear about your Sukhoi, In an earlier post I asked about the rudder on the upcoming Sukhoi, You will remember I don't like the small size of the Sukhoi. Did you deviate from scale and increase the size of the rudder? I'm saving my 53 3MM for this plane, sounds like a nice match.

Here's a bit of info I learned today and I will add to the engine instructions.

When attaching the prop if you use a thick prop and/or spinner backplate measure how much thread is left on the bolts. The prop bolts must engage the hub at least 1/2" or you run the risk of stripping the threads.

If your prop. backplate and any washers leave to little of teh screw protruding out the back you must replace the bolts with longer ones. I have longer bolts here, they are 5mm x 45mm, or you can get them from Microfasteners.

If you strip the threads on one bolt, stop. You may be able to recover from it with longer bolts in all 6 positions.

That scale weight needs to be revised downwards a couple of tenths. You won't use the exhaust gasket, the box for the spark plug, or the baggie. Well, there might be some alternate uses for the baggie

I just sent out a revised instruction sheet by email, but apparently I don't have the email address of every purchaser. If you did not get one, email me (tom@wildharerc.com) and I will forward a copy to you.

Basically I am cautioning that the screws must engage the prop hub enough but not too much. Failure to do so will result in either stripped threads or broken bolts resulting from the prop not being tight. It may br necessary to use longer bolts, they are 5mm bolts.

I advise against using 10-32 screws, the hub is aluminum and using the wrong screw can aggravate the problem of stripped threads.

Taurus, BME, DA, and 3W all use a similar multi-bolt prop hub arrangement. Don't use aluminum or stainless screws, and use screws that make it to the back of the hub and everything works just peachy. Tighten and loosen the screws in an opposing torqu sequence and props stay nice and tight. Check the bolt integrity after the first 15 minutes of flight and at the beginning of every flight session. If the bolt passes all the way through the hub and sticks out the back a little it harms nothing as long as the excess doesn't hit anything or roll over the Hall sensor. The length of the bolt will have to be determined by the length needed to make it through the prop, hub, and spinner backplate. Since all backplates and prop hubs are not created equal a small supply of various length bolts should be on hand to meet the practical need.

There's no reason on Gods' green earth to change what works very well already.

Anyone that strips one out will have done one of three things. Installed it cross threaded to begin with. Used the wrong type bolt, i.e, standard instead of metric. Felt that all the bolts had to weld themselves to the hub metal to be considered "tight enough". All three are owner error.

For those that have never worked with a multi-bolt hub it's not as bad as it appears. First, the bolts only have to be tightened to about 35-40 INCH pounds. Not foot pounds. Don't have a torque wrench, no problem. Just use a torque/tightening sequence that permits you to snug up bolts as they oppose each other. Then go back around the same way a couple of more times until they are "snugged" up Not cranked down, but tight enough that a quick flick of the wrist and allen wrench doesn't turn them futher. If you feel unsure after all that, start the engine and go through a couple of rpm cycles from behind the plane. Shut it down and check the bolts. No need to squash the center of the prop hub all the way to the other side. That's much too tight if you do and the prop will die an early death.

Here's a secret tip. Get a "Tee" handled allen wrench. When the "Tee" snugs up tight using only one hand and wrist action it's tight enough.

Drill all props from the back side, not the front. The holes always line up better and don't "pinch" as they are tightened. If the bolt does not spin into the threads freely and easily, don't force it. Remove the prop and see where you drilled it wrong. Use a thin flat washer under the bolt head. No need for a lock washer. Matter of fact, don't use a lock washer.

I matched up my ZDZ drill jig and I believe it to be a perfect match, I plan to drill a bad prop and check it and see for sure....

I have a ZDZ twin 80 and have a jig for it, it has 2 patterns and the opposite pattern from my 80 is the exact match.
