Status: offline 		I am still testing them and gathering data and different props . With what I have done they are top notch and will last a long time and looks to be as much power as glow if not more, I didn't run them on glow so I am going by the manufacture ratings for the glow comparison.

Status: offline 		Kenlambert: I have several Supertiger engines and always wanted to get a 2300. Then all of a sudden, they was no longer built in Italy but now they are made in China. I still want a 2300 and may run it on gas. What can you tell me about any experience,s you may have had converting them to gas? I am sure others are interested also. Thanks Capt,n

Status: offline 		5 years ago I purchased a large Super Tiger with the idea of converting it to gas. When I approached C&H I was told that:
1)I needed to replace the carb as the glow carb was not suitable for gas.
2) I would need to run 11% oil.
3) To use less oil I would need a new rod with needle bearings on the crank pin.
4) The crank pin was too soft to stand up to the needle bearings. I would need a new crankshaft.
5) I would need all this in addition to spark ignition and battery.

I sold the Super Tiger

I've done a few (2500, 3000's, 4500)...

1) Correct... that's true of all conversions...
2) see below
3) actually, both ends for longevity
4) well, this IS the conversions thread.... you don't need a new crank.... just a "new" crankpin.... the crankpin is hard, but not hard enough... so you heat it up and slow cool to aneal it.... mount it up in a four-jaw or a home made jig.... turn down the crankpin to accept the pressed-on hardened inner-race accesory for your chosen roller bearing (the 4500 pin is already hard enough - no mod needed)

What will you sell a converted engine for?

Status: offline 		Shouldn't lose too much power on gas as compared to the recommended low nitro mix for the big Super Tigers. However, I would run it on Gas/Glow myself.

You might offer that option in your sales Ken, as you could sell them much cheaper without the ignition....

So yeah, how much??

Status: offline 		I would be interested in the gas conversion performance with 16-8, 17-6, 17-8 props. Also of course the cost for the converted 2300 including ignition. I would suggest you see if you can get CH ignition as they have top notch reputation. I would want one that can be run inverted with a wrap around muffler.
What carb are you using?

Yes I do the work myself and no I don't run a machine shop but I do have the machines and tools to do anything I want to including a CNC mill

Status: offline 		I am also playing around with an Evolution 35 gas , I am going to do some porting and balancing internaly with other mods to get a smooth running 5-6 hp engine but that will be another thread.

Status: offline 		Ken, I have two 2500s and a Moki 2.10 that I'd like the cranks and rods done. Would you consider doing them? Airhobbies lists doing them but have not heard much good about their company. Just looking to get it done correctly.
