I pretty much only buy stuff through my local hobby shop so I had him get the model from nitro, I got the green b-25 cuz Ive always wanted one without speanding too much money. SO I got it and it was very sweet. I intended to make 2 big changes. It needed a glas nose like the real one and working bombay doors. I did both with not much work and I am almost ready to fly it. I scaled out the front gunner position and the cockpit with some help of the internet. I used some 4 cycle 52's (on sale for only 119 each!!!!!!) I use a polk radio to handle the 13 servos. I changed the way the wings attatch as the original setup is scary.

tell me whatcha think.

likes,,,,,,, cool looks and pretty cheap.
great quality wood/covering.
hardware cool except wheels.

dislikes. covering paint scratches off.
origninal wing attatch setup insane.
oval wheels suck and are too small anyway.
upper turret gun looks silly. deleted.

Looks good so far. NP sells nice planes, the hardware lacks though. Like most arfs there are good and bad. I just bought the Zlin Z-50 from NP, it has to be one of the best covering jobs on an arf I have seen. We'll see how it holds up. Right out of the box no wrinkles or flaws. Let us know how the B-25 flys.

looks good... Please give us a flight report after you take her up... As an FYI your nose gear is on backwards, turn it around so the spring is the other direction.. Take care and happy flying

Whoops..... Thanks. I will perform the switcharoo.

Left on the to do list are, flipping the motors and repositioning the throttle servos. refitting the cowls to the new engine arangement. replacing some wiring in the right wing as it had a glitch on the first test run of the engines.
replace the wheels with those cool waffle tread ones.

As a side note I replaced the rubber band design of holding the wings to the fuse to a bolt on design. Thats what I meant by redesigning the wing hold on meathed. The big pole and carbon fiber dowls were fine. But with the motors being on the wings I dont want them flexing out when the rubber band stretches or worse breaks!

Dan.

1)Nice bash , plane looks very cool ,
2)few questions , did you run your 4 stroke upside down ?? everyone I own except for one is upside down , you just have to make sure your tank line is even with carb line or run a fule pump or regulator .
3)If you find your plane comes out heavy , you may want to opt out the some of the servos for airvalves , robart makes a ton of small ones perfact for the door applications .
Good luck with the bash

well it doesnt seem heavy. I think Im ok at this time with the servos. Maybe later. Anyway I finally flipped the motors. the reason for the flip was it seemed like fuel would fill up the heads and make a mess. Also It didnt Idle well despite the glow drivers. So hence the flip. We will see how it all works out on the next test run.

Nice job on the B-25. What did you use for rudder servos??? I can't get any info out of Nitro Models. They are obviously minis........but they come in all different dimensions and I can't seem to find one that is 1.25" long by 5/8"wide by 3/4" deep (which is the size of the opening. I guess I have just been spoiled with ARF's that use ALL standard size servos. I am also concerned with the torque requirement for the rudder servos. Minis I find are in the 8-20 oz. torque ranges, which seem insufficient, but I also do not want to spend $100.00 a servo for the high torque gizmos. I went with the suggested OS .70 4 strokes, which I am guessing are going to provide WAY MORE power than I am going to need. Not to mention, there is going to be a lot of cylinder head sticking out the bottom of the cowl. AND, the throttle arm position will require some modification that I am not yet sure will be possible (It will enter the very bottom of the engine pod) I have run many 4 strokes inverted with no trouble by the way. I guess if I would have done this all over again, I would have went with the RCV .60 4 strokes (No cowl cutting would have been required, although at $285.00 a copy, this project would have added up quick......then again, if we are in this hobby to begin with, we don't add stuff up right??? Check these out....http://www.scalercmodels.com/engines.html. I also went out and spent $12.00 on engine mount bolts today.....cap screws work better than the whatevertheheck size philips screws they provide. Anyway, by the date of this post, it looks like you have HAD to fly yours by now. Anybody have any advice for my predicament??? Rob

Well Yes I have flown it 10 times or so. Check out my video of the flight at

http://profile.myspace.com/dans_am

On the last flight I lost a motor (loaded up???) and found that the flight charactoristics with one motor is dismal. I just barely got it on the ground without totaling the plane. As it was I damaged the landing gear. everything else was undamaged. I have not had any problems with the rudder control and the semi small servos are working well. If you are uncomfortable with them, then go big and cut the wood. I look at an arf as a starting point. Things I like are the motor nacels as they come off nice and easy for field work, and the body of the plane is strong enough to cut into to make scale. It is a good looking plane. The landing gear that comes with the plane is made of too soft a metal and I ended up replacing the front nose gear with a double post unit. the rear gear I kept but not without having to rebend it every couple of flights. The 52 4 cycles Ive used have plenty of power when used together, but one running will not pull the plane on the ground. The flaps are unneccessary and I may disconnect them to ad a channel to work the motors on seperate chanels for more accuracy on tuning. As it is it is a bear to sync at all speeds. As of right now I have mid and high rpm pretty close. But low rpm the plane is stronger on one side that makes ground controle a challange. Overall I like the looks and sound of the plane. The flying is just ok. the money it costs are not worth it. I should have gone with another p-40. Oh well, whats done is done. And did I mention it looks cool and sounds awsome in the air?
