I like Polk radios and receivers alot. I don't rate customer serveice by if they post or not. They pick up the phone...9 to 5 everyday and answer my questions and have always sdone right with me. I will stick with my 72 for now and I'm in no hurry to move to 2.4. The more people who switch means more cheap receivers for me (wanta sell some of the 6 ch seekers???) and less waiting for a pin.
Those Corona's suck. I have sent tack all three of the ones i tries. I'll stick with Polk.

I've been connect with John Gill by phone. Great guy. their website is up and running-according to an email they sent me-but I can't seem to navigate thru it. Just call John for you order. I have my new $99 TrackerIII. I'm not going with the 2.4 until 72 is outlawed, or abandon, or what ever the FCC does with those channels.
Corona is making nice little syn Rx's which I bought a few of and I've got a bunch of GWS 4 channel Rx. Too costly to replace everything with 2.4.

What's wrong with the Seeker synth receivers?

I have several of the Seeker II's and have never had a problem. There are 5 members of my local club who use the TrackerIII and SeekerII combo and one guy had a situation where the reciever just quit operating while still on the ground. He never sent it back but because of that one time situation and hearing of that "bad batch on SeekerII's" scenerio from a couple of years ago he and another member decided to stop using the Seeker II's. I guess the rest of us just keep using them on blind faith =) We have never encountered a problem with the Seeker 6's either. Granted, there may have been a "batch" of bad recievers at one time but I think products get unfairly labeled forever after some incident.

Seeker II receivers at least some of them have glitching problems
and Polks does not seem to have a fix for them. I have one that I
sent in for repair and it came back in the same condition.

I feel Polks should have replaced it with one that did not glitch or
made a full refund of the purchase price since they were well aware
of the problem.

ira d,

That isn't the first time I've heard that story either. It DOES make you wonder how they can send bad units back without doing anything. I wonder how they determined that nothing was wrong with them?? The 2 most common complaints that I've heard about the receivers were the short range problem and the gliching situation. I know some guys have reported that after sending back the receivers that they were returned to them "fixed" and have worked fine since. I wonder what they had to do to "fix" them?? Fortunately for me, I have never had any problems.

Xjet-

What's wrong with the Polk's seekers? Nothing as far as I can tell, although I've never used one in any of my planes. I have a Seeker-II and a smaller heat shrink wrapped Seeker 6. They have checked out fine on work bench and outdoor range check. I just never had occasion to use one of them as I have so many other RX not being used. I have extra Corona RP4S1's and came into a bunch of GWS-4P pico RX's for my foamies. I use Airtronics 7 channel 'blues' for my nitro planes. Before I switched to computer TX, I used Airtronics VG4R, VG400 and VG600 TX's. Whenever I bought a new plane, I would buy a new low level radio for it. Seems so primative now. ha ha!! A TrackerIII runs them all now.

BTW- can someone give directions on using the QUOTE function for the forums here? I've looked for directions on FAQ but couldn't locate them.

Yep, I know about the Seeker 6 problems all of mine eventually had to go back for repair/replacement due to short-range and glitching.

To their credit, Polk fixed or replaced them and covered the cost of shipping back to me (in NZ) and they're still working fine to this day.

I would say that there was almost certainly a bad batch and it's a shame that (just like most RC manufacturers) they chose not to issue a recall or at least advise customers that it might be a problem.

I think an *honest* RC company would get a *lot* of business in these days when all the manufacturers operate on a "deny everything" basis and frequently resort to deleting posts from their support forums that report problems for which there is no answer.

Perhaps the best "open and honest" support right now comes from Assan. At least they acknowledge issues and work hard to fix them (no, I don't have an Assan system and aren't on their payroll :-)

I've never had any problem with Polk's service. 5 year warranty is the longest out there.

How does the 'Quote' function work on this forum?

Just like that -^

There's a "quote" link at the top-left of each message. Use that instead of "reply" or the box at the bottom of the page.

You are so correct in what you said, With models becoming larger and faster and also
more expensive the companies that make the control systems for our models need
to raise the bar on quailty and cust service.

They need to consider that they are not just makeing the control systems for little
park flyers but planes that can be much more dangerous. Its sad to say but it will
proberly take a serious incident to cause some legislation that will start to regulate
the systems that we install in our models.
