I would like to get some feedback if possible about your experience with a 150cc in-line twin like the 3W-150R2 or Sachs 140cc. I have never owned an in-line twin and I do not know much about Sachs engines.

Any input would be apprecieted,
Thanks
Peter

There are only three (3) problems with inline twins as far as I know:

1- Cooling the rear cylinder

2- Cooling the rear cylinder

and

3- You guessed it, cooling the rear cylinder.

I am preparing to build an inline twin also. I am wondering if converting the rear motor to electric would have an effect on the need for cooling to the rear motor. This is not going to be a giant scale but it will have a 94" wingspan.

I think Eicas was planning to use a 2 cylinder inline twin engine on his plane.

I believe you are building something like a Cessna TwinMaster with an engine in front and another in the rear.

Totally different scenario.

Plus, at 94" span, it IS giant scale.

Cooling the rear cylinder... What plane and what configuration is the cowl ??

Well, some serious thought and ductwork can "help" direct the air inside the cowl.... trial and error stuff.

Or, if the engine has 2 seperate carbs.. make the rear carb slightly rich to provide a little extra lubrication.. thus "cooler"

But, as stated before.... "Cooling the rear cylinder" is usually a challange

It can be done.. but be careful.
