I haven't built a model in a long time and I don't have experience configuring electrics. I would like to know what would be additional specs to have a complete configuration for the Long EZ Voyager Electric. I would need motor, ESC, servos and batteries. If you could give me a recommendation for three configurations, basic minimum to get started, good value based on specials you maybe running and best for power and quality.
I would also need the accessories such as chargers to get it flying. I lost all of my tools and accessories from my flying days and I am starting from scratch and I mean scratch.
Thanks,

James

First I don't have one, but here is how I would go about configuring it...

The Voyager has a reported flying weight of about 34 - 36 oz.

That means you want at LEAST 24 oz of thrust for scale like flight, and more for more acrobatic possibilites, although this is NOT a 3D plane...

A 480 style motor is in the listing, but I would forgo that and go right to brushless...

A motor with over 1 kg of thrust would give you a more than adequate 1:1 thrust ratio.

So you could use one of these

The OK-C3542-C

The called for ESC is 40A, but you probably do not want to run the motor at it's limits, so you could get away with a 35A ESC (the Tower Pros's have a 10A limit, e.g. the 35a esc can run at 45A for short bursts) or you could get something with more capacity than you need to add a safety factor, which is what I do.

thus one of these will work fine.

Or for real overkill

This motor calls for either an 11x8 or 12x6 prop, so I usually go a size or two down to lower current draw and power consumption while maximizing flight times... say something in the 10x7 Slowflyer Prop range.

That permits me to use a battery pack like this w/o worrying about overdrawing the battery...

Then invest in a spare pack and a good balance charger.
