jschenck -> HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (3/16/2007 4:49:10 PM)

I see that Hitec showed a Gyro and servo for the Trex sized heli's at Nuremberg - spy photo's in the May issue of RC Heli pg. 14.

Does anyone have any information on this Gyro and servo? Specs? Most important, release date? I'm very interested in getting this setup for my Trex!

mglavin -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (3/21/2007 2:06:02 PM)

I haven't been able to confirm delivery or obtain specifications as of this date.

jschenck -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (3/21/2007 2:30:36 PM)

The Gyro looks like it may be OEM'd from Logictech. I think this is a great idea as it adds a layer of support to this Gyro that is currently missing. Also perhaps we can see more than one dealer carry it as Heliproz is the only dealer that I know which carries the LTG-2100.

Any information on the release date and complete specs for the servo (how much does is weigh?) would be great!

Thanks ..John..

Hi John,

Yes, you are correct we are getting these very soon. We will have full support for our 5000 w-digital servo combo which has in incredible .06 transit time. As a 3D pilot and getting to use one for testing, and R&D. Performance is 2-3 times better than the GY-401 that I have been using! Plus it has added features as well, that the 401 doesn't have! This will be one heck of a combo for most 400 size heli's!!

with my 'collective management' skills I need all the help I can get from the gyro. Get 'em out there! I hope Hitec will be price competitive with the Logictech pricing from HP.

Yes, we need them yesterday![:D][:D]

dont you mean last year ? lol [:D]

Stevoh -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (4/13/2007 11:56:13 PM)

Maybe getting the Gyro first would help, right? Then you could add the servo later, beside the Gyro is built, done! Then have the combo? I think there's a lot of people that would really like to try our GY-5000 Gyro, now? You could change to the digital setting once we get the Micro Digital Servo as an add-on? MMMMM.............

jschenck -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (4/27/2007 8:37:53 PM)

I see a note on rcg that is floating a June release timeframe. I have the funds ready (household CFO approved) so I'm ready to buy. I wrecked my Trex last week and I'm about 75% convinced it was the gyro - tail just kicked around several separate times while in medium speed forward flight. CSM-200. Grandrc has a good deal on the Logictech 2100T but I'd rather have the HG-5000.
Anyway we can get a firmed up release date?

Stevoh -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (4/27/2007 8:53:04 PM)

If you need the gyro only the Logictech will work well. The cost is 104.99 from helipros. It's out now. I would really suggest the HS-56 servo for tail rotor with it.

It looks like the combo will be out first with a price tag around 160.00 for both.

The rumor is correct as I was told by the higher up's it should be here around that timeline.

jschenck -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (4/27/2007 10:00:49 PM)

Thanks! - I'm currently using an HS-81 with my CSM-200. That servo seem to work pretty well, though I always got a 20-30 deg. kick on throttle punches. I assume it's the gyro though I'm running the gain right up near the wag limit. Is the HS-56 a better servo than the HS-81 or HS-65 for the tail?

Stevoh -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (4/28/2007 12:01:20 AM)

If your getting a kick, try bringing your throttle higher at that point in your throttle curve. On my 450's I'm running pretty high RPM on the head. My throttle is at 100% across the board in my idle up. In normal mode I'm running Trim, 1@-35% 2@80% 3@100% 4@100% 5@100%. this will help take out the kicking and make your heli smoother. Also you'll find out you may used a lot less pitch. When you load the baldes and your heads drops the gyro is working extra hard, so by increasing the headspeed overall you have this kicking problem solved. [:D]

Stevoh -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (4/28/2007 12:07:29 AM)

I like the HS-56 cause it works well, it's light, bearing supported, and fast! This servo also uses the Karbonite gears. With that, there no play in the gears, and I've never stripped one on the tail. [:)]

ghtracey -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (10/11/2007 9:53:54 PM)

So is there any news on when the HG5000 combo will be available? Are they shipping to stores yet to meet the "mid-October" estimate?

MikeMayberry -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (10/12/2007 6:03:08 PM)

They are due any time now.

Mike.

jschenck -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (10/12/2007 8:31:25 PM)

I bought a Logictech 2100T and a Futaba 9257 for my Trex-450. I really like this combo. I'll bet the Hitec combo will be very close.

Having said that, I think my tail control issues were not directly related to the gyro or servo. The front white gear that drives the belt was slipping on the shaft. I replaced that assembly with the microHeli assembly and the tail hasn't been a problem since.

ghtracey -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (10/24/2007 5:12:13 PM)

I hope these make it out soon, the better half is buying me a Mini-Titan for xmas and this is on my accessory list.

Tower is now showing them as early November.Item link

keysteck -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (2/18/2008 2:39:55 PM)

I just purchsed one of these units this past saturday to install on my new t-rex 450 se V2. And I am going to tell you that it is as solid as the gy401. I got the Gyro/servo combo for 174.99 at Hobby Town. Here are the key specs from the manual.

HG-5000

Universal Signal Selectable (for digital,high fram rate, and analog servos)

Auto Dectection fro any Tramsmitter and receiver types.

Led display makes adjusting the gyro easier.

Adjustable Rotate Rate, Direction, Servo Limt.

HSG-5083MG

All metal gear

Size: 29 x 13 x 30mm (1.14 x 0.51 x 1.18.in)

Weight : 21g (0.74oz)

torque at 4.8V :1.5kg.cm (20.85oz-in)

Speed at 4.8V : 0.07sec/60deg.

Non-Programmable.

This is not a Plug and Use type Gyro. You will have to do each step in instructions before Flight.

Now as for the quality. It is as rock solid as the gy401, and smaller. I flew her yesterday in around 10 mph winds and did not drift or wag. Also no sudden out of the blue corrctions.
I am not saying that the gy401 is not a superior gyro. But this is the type of gyro we need for mini electric heliz.

The reason I can compare it to a GY401 is because I have a Trex 450xl with a 401/s9650 installed.

jschenck -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (2/18/2008 3:00:46 PM)

I have been flying the LTG-2100 with a Futaba 9257 for a while now - great combo! I really like the fact that this gyro is so small some people are asking if I'm flying without a gyro. Also great that it has a separate left and right limit adjustment.

It does take longer to setup than a 401 but worth it. If I were to buy new now it'd be the Hitec 5000/5083 or Logictec 2100/3100 combo which look to be the exact same other than the name.

Keysteck

Any concerns with connecting this to the Align ESC and voltage considerations???

The Hitec Servo is rated for 4.8 V. Any concern about burning out servo???

Thanks.

I have not had a problem since i installed it. I just recommend to read the manual for setup purposes.

MaxThrottle -> RE: HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-8053MG servo (5/16/2008 4:13:04 PM)

Yah I picked up the Align volt reducer; converts 5.8V to 5.2. I just put it in line between the Gyro and the 5083.

Some are posting quotes from Hitec that Hitec has been running both at 6V and says its fine. Others again from Hitec the Gyro can handle the voltage coming from the Align ESC ~6V even though the 5000 has an operating voltage of 5.5V per the manual. They're banking on the Align putting out just under 6V once it running.

I sent in the question to Hitec why they posted then in the manual 5.5v but later in one on ones with customers say its fine at 6V... still waiting on the answer.

The real proof is if the gyro stops working and the voltage question comes up before the warranty is up.
