been discussed many times....

depends.. there is no max.

As a beginner 6 to 10 mph may be enough...

I've flown in 25 + on the wind gauge.......

and more but I can't prove it!

Depends on what your are flying, and if the wind is steady or in gusts - it makes a lot of difference. Anything above about 15 mph keeps most on the ground.

AS said it all depends. Mostly on you and also a great deal on the model. A heavy over power fun fly model fairs great in high winds. My uproar and balsa nova have been put through 30 mph on many ocasions, I wouldn't have attempted that with a trainer or a cub. I've flown heavy slope soarers in 45 kts gusting to 50 and these were concidered great condidtion for the slope soaring race. We had to put about 4 lbs of balast to keep the 60" gliders on the hill, seeing as how a few of the models wings folded I think that was about as much as they could take, that day the pylon races rivaled that of a 427 heat.
