For comparing metric and fractional drill bits I found this drill chart site extremely useful.

I think a letter I drill would work good. It is the tap drill for 5/16x24 threads. shouldn't be to hard to find.

Hey - when I put the 8mm knitting needle on my Axe this weekend, it is loose in the frame - twists rather easily - how can I tighten it up? Maybe some tape or something else?? Oh, I have the socket head machine screws in that section of the frame.

I have the Phillips head screws there, and my 8mm needle fit snug. When I tightened it up, it was perfect.

Will this fit in an Axe CP? Is it a good buy?

I could be wrong, but I think you need at least a 15C Discharge rate for the AXE CP. Maybe I am wrong though.

That's not exactly true. The "C" rating is just part of the equation. The "C" rating is a multiplier for the constant discharge amperage. On the batteries in MMatheny's post the constant discharge amps are 15.6 amps which should be enough for the Axe. 13 amps or over should be OK for an Axe. Now if you had an 800mA pack with a 15C rating the constant discharge amps would be 12 amps which would be a bit less than you'd want for the Axe.

The equation to figure out the constant discharge amps is fairly simple. First you take the battery's milliamp rating and convert it to amps. For example: 1300mA x 1000= 1.3 amps. Then simply multiply that number by the "C" rating. For example: 1.3 amps x 12C = 15.6 amps.

The batteries in that ebay add are at a good price, but not knowing there quality I'm not sure how long they'd last. For that price they're probably worth a shot though.

OK....kind of off topic, but here goes...

I replaced the tail boom with the needle...works GREAT! And for $2.88, it beats the official replacement. I also at the same time replaced the swash and blade grips (previously broken) with CNC parts from HeliDirect (Microheli). Now the darned thing won't lift off the ground...even at full throttle, and Idle-Up ON...it get's to a point in the trottle, and kinda jumps like it's going to lift off, but it's just a small jump...it never gets more than an inch off the ground, and only then for just a second.

I've set all of the linkages to factory, pitch gauged, and it all looks good...it just doesn't want to lift...Is this a bad servo, rcvr? None of the servos seem to jump, or lag?

Long story about this now. I emailed Helimax (Hobbico), and they said to adjust the pitch more. I did, and now I think the 3-n-1 or the ESC is fried now, as the freshly charged (11.2 VDC) battery, will not even spin the blades. Also the furthest back servo is way out of whack, going there right after the battery is plugged in. This leads me to believe that it is NOT a servo. HeliMax wants me to send the whole thing back, and let them repair/test fly, or replace.

What do you guys think?

dreimer,

I just sent mine off saturday. I figure it's worth it. They either fix it or replace it. If it's still under waranty, they do it for free.
What do you have to loose??
Ted

Ted,

I'm not sure I have the receipt, and I wanted to make sure I did everything I could before I sent it back.

Thanks though!

Found the receipt....now to box her up and ship her out. I think I'm going to ship 2nd day air to speed the return.

What has been the experience with turn-around times?

What is the warranty period on the Axe? The manual just states it is warranted to be free of defects when you receive it!!! Also, I hope everyone that sent their original receipt in for the $50 gift cert made a copy!
