I've tried like 10 different cans of paint, from Wal*Mart brands, to model airplane paints, to speciffically made chemical resistant industrial paints. 30% Nitro kicks their butts every time. Automotive lacqures work best, but cost a bunch for start up. I figured since this was a dye, and actually got down into the plastic, it might work. I'm doubtful now. I'll know this weekend, how bad fuel treats it. BTW, the landing gear on the Boxxer ARF is anodized black, and will not run no matter the nitro. Also, for sticking paint to aluminum (less than 30% noitro fuel), a vinegar bath is a way to chemically prep the surface, to hold paint much better. Aluminum Oxode forms almost instantly in air, and the vinegar chemically etches the surface, to give paint a better chance to hold. Wash with soap and water, soak in vinegar for like a minute, then towel dry. Paint it immediately. That's your best chance there. For synthetics, like Teatherite from OMP, get a good sanding done (220 grit does good), then wash with soap and water and dry, and go to town with the spray paint. Maybe after the Rit dye, a good coat of clear lacquer???
