Global kit, I do not think they are made any more, got it off EBAY. Shown on test flight day, I since cut a hole in the fuse and mounted the tank on center and re-engined with Thunder Tiger 61.

Pretty tame so far, have had some engine and trim issues that precluded getting too crazy with it just yet. Moved the tank to deal with horrendous lateral balance change from start to end of flight - would NOT do a straight ahead loop! Anyone else ever have to deal with that on a profile? I have never had one so very sensitive to that...

This is my latest design, the 44 MAGNUM. Bad pic I know and the trim is not anywhere near finished either but she's about to make her maiden flight in an hour. It's 4 pm in Texas.....ring,RING,RING,RING... WARM UP THOSE JUGS AND "LET THE SHOW BEGIN"!

About your problem with the loops... I would check the wing incidence. If your plane has semi symetrical airfoils, the usual formula I have seen in my biplanes which I have owned that have semi symet. airfoils is zero incidence on the bottom wing and slightly positive on the top. Wing warp?? equal throw on left and right ailerons?? not to preach to the choir, just feeling around. Some airplanes have a tendency to "snap" or roll out of a hard pull on the elevators. My Cap 232 was horrible for that. If nothing else becomes evident, perhaps seperate servos on the right and left wings and some mixing would be in order. You might even want to try checking or changing your thrust angle slightly and put her up and have a looksee. Another thing many RC pilots fail to do is to tie a string around the prop shaft and attach another string to your top rudder hinge and hang that baby and see which side she leans toward. I would guess that ANY profile model would lean toward the cylinder side, a bit too much IMO with 4 strokes. Like I said, I'm just poking around. I'm dealing with those and many more issues designing 3D aerobats and working out the bugs. I personally like VERY THIN wings and a VERY LIGHT nose... Got to go put my new design up...my fingers are itching.... J.D.

Hmmmm, if I read your post right you should be BACK from test flying now???? How it go?

The Waco has thick symeterical wings and 4 fairly large ailerons with two servos. After the tank mod and new engine I also got REAL anal about the lateral balance - the new engine is a little heavier but I suspect that even with the lighter engine I may not have been as well balanced as I thought - I suspect engine side was heavy componded by the 12 oz tank on the engine side.

I think the wings are straight but I am carrying some aileron trim that could be related to the lateral balance - In short this weekend I have a "new" bipe to test fly!

My only previous RC profile was a Tower Extra Special 40 (?) - a clone of their P-51. That bird was a cinch to set-up.

Your checklist is thorough, I have tried several of the items and that's what led me to the re-do. I thnk I have neutralized as many factors as possible - time to burns some gas and try again!

THANKS for the post, I'll let you know if the Waco gets straightend out.

The test flight was a complete success. The thing flies exactly like its electric prototype, the "32 Special" except in the sheer power department ( as I suspected after beginning construction...). The little Saito 30 just about neutralizes the weight of the plane, but it is still quite new and clearly needs to be dialed in. Even so... the Saito 56 or a 40 2 stroke is what this baby wants for hovering power. I only got about 5 or 6 minutes total time tonight. I guess I expected this little 30 to run as good as my 3 year old Saito .91. Tomorrow is another day. Oh, talk about thrust angles and pulling, ect... I set the CG on the 44 identicle to that of the electric prototype and as soon as i got it into the air, I said "too light in the nose", because of climbing when I opened the throttle, but, 4 minutes and 4 oz of fuel later, the first landing was a perfect 3 pointer, one of my best landings ever, and still needed slight back stick, so the CG is fine, I need down thrust. Everything is set at zero, zero, zero right now. So is my electric but IT dont pull up quite as much, but it does pull up slightly when you quickly flip the throttle to full and I like that because the thing SNAPS into a hover so fast you can hardly see the transition when you pull back hard and flip open the throttle. OK gotta go clean her up. Tell me how your flight went. J.D.
