4 1/2" spinner is needed. I used a Tru-Turn Ultimate spinner, as I like that style. Scott

I got to meet brian and Rich from pacific planes and picked up my extra this last weekend. First Id like to say I spent some time checking my plane out yesterday and Im impressed, covering looks solid everywhere with no bubbles at all, built very light and solid and was impressed the firewall is not only slotted but pinned as well. Also got to see the extra 260 fly twice on saturday and even though it was sporting a new da100 running very rich it looked to fly extremly well with very little correction needed for any manuevers such as KE etc. It waterfalls and inverted to inverted waterfalls darn nearas quick and as tight as a mojo 65. hovering looked very stable but since it was new most of those manuevers were up in the air a bit. It dead sticked several times and just floated in with no bad low speed tendencies at all. LOVE THAT HUGE ELEVATOR. Now if DA will get on the stick a build me an 85 I think this will make an awesome light 3D big bird

I flew my 35% 260 today. It turned out to be pretty windy with winds 10-20mph, but I got in 7, 11 minute flights. Plane flies well. It did need a few clicks of aileron correction, and 1 click of up. I think the incidence is slightly off on the wings, but no big deal. It requires very little mixing, and right now I am only at 5% elevator with rudder. It was hard to get it perfectly dialed in with the wind, but it's close. With the DA-100, it has plenty of power. After flying the plane, I think I could use around 3-4 ounces of weight in the tail to be perfect. It still flies well as it is. A DA-85 might be a perfect choice for less nose weight, and it should have plenty of power. I still prefer the twin, so I'll stick with the 100.

In high alpha, there is very little wing rocking. Waterfall's, blenders, harrier's are great, and it does beautiful inverted flat spins, and knife edge spins. Very hard plane to beat that will fly precision, and 3D this well. I did gap seal my elevators, and I only need 28% of throw to fly any sequence. That elevator is powerful. It does need 2 5955 servo's for the rudder if you want to do knife edge loops with the 100 in front. I am only getting about 50 degrees of throw on my rudder with the servo arms I'm using, and it will knife edge loop well. It would be better with the tail weight I could add, but works for now. I kept my torque rolls and high alpha rolling manuevers brief, since I am still breaking in the engine. The plane torque rolls well, and I was surprised since I'm a little nose heavy.

In short, just a nice flying plane. I can't wait to get the 100 broken in and switch to Amsoil 100-1. I don't like the mess with 32-1. Scott

A few pics of the plane as it progresses.
Impressive points. Servo openings are allready cut and pull string installed for easy servo installation. Hardware is all decent quality with the only exception to me being the fuel tank which is OK. havent decided If Im gonna use it yet

Non impressive points. The only thing that comes to mind is a few of the blind nuts being off tilt a bit making it a little hard to install 1 wheel pant and the gear cover. Im not sure the painted landing gear is CF either. a bit of paint chipped off the gear when installing the axles and it sure looked like white fiberglass underneath but Im not willing to scrape away the paint just to prove a point. It is light and strong as evidenced by seeing it fly and not breaking under a hard landing.

Pic 1 is a pic of the stabs... love them elevators
Pic 2 is a pic of the wings just as they come out of the box
Pic 3 is a pic of the hardware
Pic 4 is looking inside
Pic 5 is the fuselage up to engine installation

Well the pics wont upload for some reason, I'll try again in another post

That all looks very familiar. I did use the fuel tank, but modified it with larger tubing for only the fuel feed line. I have had no problems. I just flew mine again today, and can fly for 11 minutes with good reserve in the tank, with the DA-100. I would use it, and if you have a problem then replace it. I had one blind nut missing on the cowl ring, so I ended up replacing it with SAE blind nut and socket head screw. The gear and pants all aligned well, but the gear hatch cover is finicky to install, and mine needed a little tweaking. I'm still satisfied with mine. Scott

New color scheme is in process as we speak.
And some important changes are being made to airframe and landing gear.
I will be reviewing subjects on Wed. of this week.
Thanks Rich.

Scott,

Rich Mowery Here, I have the 4% Elevater to Rudder and I checked Your incidence on your wing and tails also myself Before shipping. Mine 260 gets the same readings line thickness at most on one wing. Weight to Horese power I checked my firewall and has 2.50 right all good. I think me and Ryan are going to set it at 3 Degrees right and try it.Have you made any adjustments in that deptmant yet.I'll Keep you informed.

Cheers Rich M.

I'm fine with the right thrust. I needed a few clicks of aileron correction on the first flight, and the ailerons are slightly off of center to fly straight. Like I said, it's very little, and no big deal. I have about 50 flights on mine right now, and it's dialed in right. I flew at a full scale fly-in last week, and I had a tremendous amount of compliments on the plane, and on the flying quality. The only problem to crop up during all this flying was I had a small crack appear in the wheel pant that started from the wheel opening. A quick repair with CA, and it's holding up fine. Still happy, and if you ever come out with a 35% Yak 54, or even a 38% Yak, I'd buy one. Scott

Anything on the new scheme yet? Also what upgrades are being made to the airframe and landing gear?

We are still on hold for the new scheme. We are in the process of designing a couple new planes and the scheme will not be changed until our new planes are completed. I will let you know when we start production. Lastly, we will be offering Carbon fiber and fiberglass landing gear (customers are going to be able to choose whichever they prefer). Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Blake

Do you currently have the carbon fiber/fiberglass landing gear in stock for anyone buying one of the Extra 260's that you currently have in stock?
