Ive got a carl goldberg edge 540 with a 45cc engine, ill be running a 6v-1200mah nicd for the ignition, what should i be using for my reciever? Ive got a couple 4.8v 600mah from the trainers i started with but are these going to supply enough juice to run these bigger HT servos? Are they going to last very long?Id like to stick with nicd or nimh if i can use those because my money is limited right now.Would another 6v,1200 mah do the trick? Also i have a charger that is good for the RX and TX one is 4.8v @100mah and the other is for 9.6v@70mah.Will the 4.8v line charge my 6v battery?Thanx

If it were me, on a plane that size, I would be tempted to go with a lipo pack for the RX pack..

If you are not setup for lipo charging, you could pick up a decent pack and wall chargr for relatively cheap..

Well, the pack voltage would depend on what your servo's can take.. Some servo's will not take 6V.. You would need to make sure your servo's can take 6V.. You will need a regulator to bring the lipo voltage down to 6V.. A 2 cell lipo pack, will run about 8.4v fully charged, so you'd have to bring that down to 6v..

Also, I would think you could probably run a lipo on your ignition too, I've never thought about that.. Are there voltage limits on the ignition? I don't remember.. When I was flying gas, lipo's weren't even around..

LiPo never think about something else. I use Lipo in all my choppres - Duralite 4300ma + duralite 5.1v voltage regulator (They have 5.3v regulator) Anyhow you will have to buy special charger and voltage meter to check the voltage. It will not be cheap BUT think about 1)a lot of power that give you many time in the air 2) constant voltage to rx system 3) very low battery weight 3) no effect memory in thr batteries 4) you can charge the battery in the field (between flights) 5)the chrager is for 110/12v
