Ok I keep repeating this in every post. This is the best forum I've found because I always seem to get good advice, so I need your help again. I've always had electric cars, but I'm now in the process of building my first gas buggy. (Mugen MBX5-R with an OS .21 V-Spec.) I'm to the part where I need to install the servos, etc. Guess what, I don't have them or a radio. My electric cars have basic radios and I never paid much attention to the quality. So I started doing some research. Talk about confusion. Ok I got PCM 2.4Ghz is the best. At that point I'm lost. $ is not a concern, but Best, Most Features, Upgradable, Best Control, Response, Range, etc. are. I want a radio that I can use for racing and that has the least limitations. I appreciate your opinions.

The Nomadio React hands down. dont buy teh overrated Futaba. go with nomadio, fastest radio, most tech, software updates via computers using the included cable and software, best signal tech, 1000ft range, antennaless, ergos are really nice, 4 channel, 100mhz (faast is 75mhz or lower)

Nomadio ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1st of all Nomadio has the best customer service in the R/C industry!
The React and Sensor are awesome radio's... 4 channel, built in telemetry, every imaginable feature a radio could have.

Well so far it seems that Nomadio is the most popular brand. Any suggestions on how I decide between the React & the Sensor? Also does anyone have any feelings regarding Spektrum in comparison to Nomadio?

I've had good support with my Spektrum DX3, but it hasn't been a great radio in general. I think I'll probably sell off my equipment when it gets cold next fall/winter and get a Nomadio. Spektrum doesn't have anywhere near the features that Nomadio does.

Nomadio is the way to GO. Either Sensor or React.

Hold them both and find out which of them feels best to you.

So far as I know, NO OTHER radio can be upgraded, by uploading new firmware/software to the unit.

My Sensor started out as 3 channels, DSSS and 10mw transmit power.
Today it has 4 channels, almost 3 times the features, is a FHDSS system, and has 100mw transmit power. (and can be made compatible with one Kompetitors Receivers)
All by uploading FREE firmware updates.

NOIC here is how to decide get the React because it has room for more options in the memory.

Or get the Sensor if you want the BIG screen and Sounds

But get the one that feels right for you.

IMO the first priority is how the radio feels in your hand. You may be able to get to 45min mains (wish I could ) and in that event you want something that feels good in your hands. Every radio is different. As an example, you may appreciate one brand that has the trigger a little closer to the handle than another (or vice versa). Most of the top end radios have pretty similar features, so IMO 'feel' is THE most important factor.

DSS 2.4GHZ does seem like the way to go to me. Of course, with most everyone going that direction there are fewer people at the track to worry about being on your frequency if you run 75MHZ. This is a feature you can worry about once you decide which model you like best.

Many have spoken of the increased response times you get with a good system. This is a pretty big deal, as you will see once you get used to whatever you buy. As you are already going from slow RTR type radios to full on race models, I am not sure how much you would notice the slight difference in response times between the top models. I think only you can answer that question.

It would be nice if most LHS's would set up a computer with Virtual RC so that people could try out different radios. Seems like it would not only increase sales in the game, but also in radios!

Well I’ve researched this to death and after listening to all of you, guys in my area, and some veterans at the local hobby shops I am about 90% in favor of the following, but I’d like your opinion (positive or negative) before I lay down some serious cash. Here is what I am thinking about:

Airtronics M11 (Transmitter Only – No Receiver or Servos)
(2) Airtronics 94359z Servos (200oz-.10sec @ 6v)
Spektrum DSM 3-CH Pro Series Surface Module/Rx: AIR M8/M11

What do you think?

I think your hobby shop vets only buy what they think they know.

You will be almost twice the weight, half the frame rate and a whole lot less power and no telem plus no software updates.

Servos sound good though.

Nomadio is better than that radio. Sorry but its true.

The M11 may have some more programming features... but most are things you will never use.

The package you are going with is less powerful than the Nomadio React, and(I'm just guessing here, dont flame me) isnt it more expensive too?

Dont get me wrong, the M11 is a great radio.

Also, I'm much in favor of what other people have mentioned: You really should hold them in your hands before making up your mind! Wouldnt it suck to buy the M11(or any other radio, for that matter) only to find out later that another radio is MUCH more comfortable for you?
